There are plenty of hot Hollywood stars that are still managed by their managers, but it’s rare to see a superstar become independent. The reason why Kristen Stewart is so special is that she not only broke from the mold, but she did it while also redefining what it means to be famous. In 2018, the 25-year-old became the first celebrity in history to divorce her famous partner, Robert Pattinson.
Since then, she’s made a career for herself and has taken on a new manager, Bill Beaumont. While Stewart spent most of her time away from the camera focusing on her private life, she never stopped working and managed to rack up some great accomplishments. Not too shabby for someone who didn’t even finish high school. In 2019 alone, she appeared in four releases: two movies, a TV show and a live album. She also began work on a new album and booked numerous concert dates. Her career is just now blossoming and it’s important to note that this all happened while maintaining her privacy.
The California native now calls Los Angeles home base and has made it a priority to reconnect with her supporters in the area. Since arriving back in LA, Stewart has starred in two Sundance-selected films and attended numerous festivals and screenings to promote them. Not only that, but she’s also worked hard to become more involved in her local community. Stewart has joined A-List Celebrities Charity, an organization that brings together top Hollywood stars to help fight sexual assault and domestic violence, and is set to make her TV debut on their behalf. With all of this success, it’s clear that Stewart hasn’t forgotten about her roots and continues to work hard to make sure that her fans know that she’s always available to help. Whether it’s coming to the aid of an abused woman or an aspiring musician, Stewart is always willing to lend a hand. We caught up with her as she began her LA comeback and got to ask her a variety of questions about her incredible journey to date.
When Did You First Come To Los Angeles?
It was 2007, I think. I had just broken up with my boyfriend at the time, but I had moved out to L.A. to focus on my career. I was working hard, but not making much money, so I decided to relocate and try and make it big. I didn’t have much in the way of savings, so I decided to hitch hike to New York City and try and get a bus or train ride to Los Angeles. I didn’t get a ride, but I stumbled upon a bus that was going to Salt Lake City. I got on board and fell asleep. When I woke up, I was in the middle of nowhere. No towns, no gas stations, no restaurants. I was really happy that I found that bus. It was a very new experience for me. I got off the bus in the middle of nowhere and thought to myself, “Ok, well this is it.” I didn’t really have a plan B or C, I just wanted to get to Hollywood and try and make it.
What Did You Do To Get Ready For Your First Job In The Industry?
I had been working as a cocktail waitress and a bartender, so I was actually very prepared for my acting career. I had done a lot of improv and was willing to try anything. I had gotten into a little bit of trouble with the law before I even began my acting career, but I’ve never looked at it as a bad experience. It was a learning process. I had a lot of fun with it and I think it helped in shaping who I am as an actor. I had taken classes before in acting and was confident that I could hold my own.
What Would You Say Is Your Biggest Weakness?
My biggest weakness? I don’t know if I have one. I think that I’m pretty honest and upfront and I don’t like to bullshit. I’m not good at coming up with excuses, either. So if I have a weakness, it’s probably that. I think that I’m pretty hard-working and I don’t like to waste time. I want to just get things done. I don’t really like being lazy, but sometimes life gets in the way and you have to make time for yourself. Which is probably why I don’t have a whole lot of hobbies. I don’t really feel like I need to make time for myself because I have a job. I love my job. I’m very fortunate that I get to do what I love every day.
What Is The Story Behind Your Name?
I had a friend in high school who liked to play tricks on people. She would put a fake advert in the newspaper or ask a classmate to bake her a cake and when it came time to pay, they would catch her by surprise. I don’t really like lying, so I wasn’t going to use my real name when I started modeling. When my father found out that I was going to be a model, he said that he thought that my name was quite fitting because I’m quite a romantic at heart. He said that if I wanted to go modelling, then he would support me no matter what. I actually have a lot of relatives, both my parents and my aunts on my mother’s side, who are named Kristen. So when I decided to do this modeling thing, I wasn’t going to tell them I was changing my name. They would have made fun of me.
Do You Have Any Regrets (apart From The Name Change)?
Not really. I don’t think that I did anything that I’m regretful of. I’m very happy with the way things turned out. As I mentioned before, I had gotten into some trouble with the law, but I’ve never looked at it as a bad experience. It was a learning process and I got a chance to meet some really great people. I also think that I made the right decision for myself. This is a good place for me to be and I’m happy to be here. Everything worked out for the best.
How Has Your Career Changed Since Robert Pattinson Divorced You?
Since Robert has been divorced from me, it’s been a really interesting journey. I think that it’s changed me as a person. I care a lot more about other people than I did before I went through that experience. I also think that it’s made me more confident. I definitely wasn’t confident before I got married. I went through a really bad phase where I felt like I wasn’t good enough. I didn’t think that I could accomplish anything on my own. I was so used to having someone else take care of me that I didn’t know how to be responsible for myself. After my divorce, I had to learn to be independent. It was really difficult at first, but I knew that I had to do it if I ever wanted to have a life. Sometimes you just have to take a risk and do what you feel is right. I had worked hard my entire life and I wasn’t going to stop now. I wanted to show the world that I was capable of more than just being a wife. I had to prove to myself that I could succeed and make things work on my own. It’s been a really interesting journey, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
