Although Everett never specified what the “massage” or “service” consisted of, it was enough for tabloid newspapers across the country to run with the story. They claimed that Stewart was being forced to “prove” to her boyfriend that she was still a virgin, which is why the text message exchange happened. Everett’s claims were denied by Stewart’s representatives, who called the letter “slanderous.” The scandal was enough to make many fans think that perhaps it was time for Stewart and Pattinson to call it quits.
