It’s been a while since we heard from the happy couple, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. But, as the actress’ recent pregnancy demonstrates, even celebrities’ love lives don’t always follow expected patterns. For the first time in a long time, we can now confirm that Robert and Stewart are back together and looking deeply into the camera lens as parents. The two confirmed their amorous reunion while on the red carpet for the premier of Matt Lauer’s documentary, The Perfect Storm, on Tuesday night in New York City.
The 45-year-old Twilight actor wore an ivory dress with a floral print and white heels. His wife, 25, looked every bit the classic bombshell as she posed for photographers alongside her husband. A source tells People that the couple’s first child, a daughter named Matilda Mary, was born at the end of June.
Family Is Everything For Them
It’s been a rough few years for Robert and Stewart. The former was convicted of drug smuggling in October 2013 and subsequently served three months in prison. Since then, he’s largely stayed away from the spotlight while his wife has flourished in the public eye. Most recently, Stewart was arrested and charged with battery for attacking a photographer during a photo call for the Hollywood Reporter in June 2014. She was released on an appearance ticket and has since moved to Canada with her family (her grandmother lives there).
Now, with their family life back on track, it appears that the couple is once again investing in their marriage. Having gone through a rough patch, Robert and Stewart seem to have taken their time building a family and learned a lot about what they needed and wanted from their relationship. In a 2015 interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 38-year-old actor said that he has “two little girls and a boy” and that his “whole family is a massive part of what keeps me sane.” He then paused, looked to the camera, and added, “And I love that camera.” It appears that whatever obstacles the couple faced, they were resolved and came away stronger for it.
They Want To Be Hands-On With Their Children
As we’ve established, Stewart has been a working mother for much of the past five years. But she hasn’t been solely focused on her career. In an interview with the Daily Mail last November, she said that being a mother “is the most incredible thing in the world.” However, she admitted that raising children while also being a celebrity can be challenging, particularly since she and her husband “don’t want to be like every other Hollywood couple and want to be hands-on with our kids as much as possible.”
The actress explained that she and her husband “try our best to keep them busy and have fun activities planned so they don’t get lonely,” noting that their kids “love going to the park and pretending to be pirates.” She also added that she “never misses an opportunity to read a book to them” and that she and her husband “decided long ago that we weren’t going to be like every other couple and want a different life.”
The Kids Have Brains, Too
While Robert and Stewart are undeniably hands-on with their kids, it seems that they also want to instill in them a sense of intellect and curiosity. The Daily Mail article quotes the couple as saying that they regularly engage their children in “brainy” discussions, challenging them to debate the pros and cons of various topics. They also seek out learning opportunities for their children, hosting history lessons for their class of four-year-olds and taking them on field trips to see real-life scientists in action. In December 2014, Stewart was appointed president of the prestigious Junior League, a non-profit organization that supports young women as they navigate the world of work and motherhood.
According to a new interview with People, Stewart explained that being a parent teaches you “that life is not just about you.” As a result of these challenges, Stewart has emerged from the shadow of her stardom to embrace a more traditional role in her married life. She now works as a professional fundraiser and mentor to emerging young businesswomen.
They Want To Be Able To Give The Kids A Badge That Says “I Love You”
In the wake of their 2009 break-up, Stewart and Robert Pattinson maintained a relatively amicable relationship. Last year, the actor told Elle that he and his wife “still love each other very much” and that they “are just taking our time.” The couple’s separation was due in part to Stewart’s hectic work schedule and the fact that she was often exhausted from traveling and appearing in films. Since their reunion, the couple has been noticeably hands-on with their children, taking them to school plays and festivals, and buying them fancy toys.
However, Stewart isn’t content with simply being a mother and wife; she also wants to be a positive role model for her children. To that end, she has worked hard to ensure that they are well-socialized and feel comfortable in their own skin. In many ways, this is evidenced by her choice of attire for the reunion with Robert Pattinson on the red carpet: white heels and an ivory dress, the latter of which she paired with a beautiful blue jacket (that she wore with a yellow dress in 2013). While her clothing choices might not speak to everyone, they speak to me. She chose these items to accentuate the positive qualities that she feels are most important to her as a parent – her smarts, her warmth, and her femininity.
This Is A Real Life Rich And Famous
Over the years, Stewart has distinguished herself as a talented and versatile actress. But she has never been afraid to break the mold. In choosing to marry Robert Pattinson, she defied Hollywood’s conventional wisdom and defied the public’s perception of her as a fame-hungry, shallow party girl. In the process, she proved that she is far more complex and fascinating than many give her credit for.
