Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are officially married. The actress tied the knot with her director fiancé in a romantic ceremony in France this past weekend. The ceremony was private and only family and friends were invited. The couple had initially planned to wed in December 2019, but later switched the date to April 23 so that Stewart could make it to her mother’s funeral in Los Angeles.
The wedding had been heavily publicized and the couple even made a guest appearance on The Tonight Show to promote it. While both Stewart and Pattinson attended the 2020 Golden Globes on Sunday night, they kept the nuptials a secret. The famous guests at Stewart’s wedding included Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, and Jude Law. Stewart’s mother, Diane Ladd, who died in December 2019, didn’t live to see her daughter marry. She passed away just days after the ceremony.
Stewart and Pattinson became engaged in March 2020 after dating for almost a year. The actor had proposed to the Twilight star during a walk on the beach in Venice, California. Stewart said yes, but later changed her mind and called off the engagement. They got back together in May and eventually tied the knot in October. The celebrity bridal couple are already parents to a son named Finn. He was born in August 2019.
A Royal Night
The happy couple’s wedding night was held at Le Marais in Paris. The ballroom was decked in white flowers and lanterns hung from the ceiling. The ceremony started at 7 p.m. and the reception followed at 9:30 p.m. The guest list included many of France’s top literary figures and prominent socialites. Stewart’s brother, Alexander, gave a special musical performance while her sister, Stella, played the piano. The singer One Direction was also in attendance and performed for the newlyweds.
Wedding Rings And Jewelry
The bride wore a white dress by designer Ralph Lauren and a custom-designed diamond ring by designer Harry Winston. The couple chose to keep the ceremony and reception a secret because they wanted to keep the focus on each other and their wedding day. The only guest they invited was their photographer, Ellen von Unwerth, who was also the maid of honor. A close friend of Stewart’s said the star wanted to have a low-stress, intimate ceremony and wedding party.
The bride’s ring had been a part of her look since the start of her career in 2011. In an interview with Vogue, Stewart said she decided to wear the ring after she read a magazine article about a bride who chose to keep her hair long after getting married. She decided to try it out as an alternative to a traditional engagement ring. The designer’s name is also inscribed on the inside of the ring in English, French, and German.
Bridesmaids And Friend’s Wedding
The bride’s closest friend, Lizzy, was her bridesmaid and Vera, another friend, was her best woman. They both wore pale blue dresses by Canadian designer Joseph Incapia. Stewart’s brother, Alex, served as a groomsman and her nephew, Halston, was her best man. His mother, Diane, and his three sisters, Lisa, Sydney, and Ashley, were the maids of honor. Other attendees included Stewart’s parents, Richard and Diane, and her siblings, Alexander and Stella.
There were no signs of a recession during Stewart’s wedding day – the guests did not wear masks and there were no empty chairs at the tables. Instead, the attendees were dressed in their finest and the ballroom was packed. The star looked radiant as she arrived at the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage. She was accompanied by Pattinson and their son, Finnegan, who wore a matching tuxedo.
Wedding Rings As Sculptures
Instead of keeping the traditional gift for the wedding party, the couple gave each other sculptures made entirely out of wedding rings. They picked out a one-of-a-kind ring from among their friends and family. There were more than 10,000 individual diamonds, totaling almost 1 million carats, in the creation of the sculpture.
The sculptures were designed by French jewelers Dior and were rendered in 24 karat gold and platinum. The luxurious rings are on permanent display at Le Marais. Each sculpture is different and features intricate details such as rubies and diamonds. The couple named their collection of sculptural rings “Le Carré” after the legendary French literary journal, L’Ecrivain.
Packing, Planning, And Getting Ready
Kristen Stewart and her husband are very involved in the planning of their wedding. The couple started working together on their invitations more than a year ago and have been gathering guest lists and sending out invitations ever since. The star loves to be precise and likes to ensure everything is done just the way she wants it. She reportedly made her maids of honor pick out their dresses three weeks ago and has been getting ready for the big day ever since. In late January, her wedding hairstyle was leaked online. The actress’ hairstylist, Michelle Alhara, custom-made an intricate wedding dress for Stewart that incorporated a tulle skirt and a beaded bodice. The Honeymoon And Post-wedding Plans
After the wedding day, the couple went on their honeymoon to Italy. They visited Venice, Florence, and Rome and plan to be back in October. Since returning from their wedding vacation, the couple have been working on packing and settling into their new marital home. They have reportedly been decorating the place with antiques and have been hosting house parties. They also welcomed their first child, a son, in August.
The actress has been making frequent trips to Santa Monica for workouts with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak. Pasternak has been working with her on a sustainable exercise and diet plan, which focuses on eating locally and organically. Stewart also collaborates with makeup artist Patricia Wells on her beauty regime. She uses products made from natural and organic ingredients and has been incorporating more vegetables and fruits into her diet. (© Provided by Hypebeast)
More Than Meets The Eye
The wedding of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson was certainly a lavish affair. The couple chose to keep the ceremony and reception a secret for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons was to keep the focus on each other and their wedding day. What is interesting is that they did not want their guests to feel pressured to attend or to wear masks. Additionally, it was one of the only times during the pandemic that weddings did not seem to be affected. People wanted to attend and celebrate with the newlywed couple. (© Provided by Hypebeast)
