While many may still be reeling from the split of the iconic couple, Rupert and Elizabeth Murdoch, there is already speculation surrounding the next major celebrity union.
Rumoured to have reunited after a three-year estrangement, Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson are currently enjoying an unexpected level of privacy alongside their dogs, Bogie (a Labrador) and Scout (a chocolate Labrador Retriever).
Just a year after welcoming baby Luna into the family, the Hollywood actress, 24, has been locked in a romantic liaison with her Twilight co-star, 26. While their relationship has long been speculated to have returned, the pair have maintained an extremely low profile since their split in May 2018. However, since then, evidence of their reconciliations has steadily mounted.
First came the undeniable proof that the pair had been seen dining together in public before the separation, which saw them team up for a Paddington-themed photo shoot. Next, the actress was spotted boarding a Virgin flight to the UK with her boyfriend’s dog, Bogie. A few weeks later, another picture of them together, this time posing with Bogie, appeared to confirm their reconciliation. Since then, there has been a string of sightings of the Scottish actress, including one in which she was seen holding hands with her boyfriend at the Ham Yard nightclub in London.
When quizzed about their relationship, both parties have been extremely discreet and loyal to each other, maintaining that they wanted to keep their privacy. However, their collective silence has not stopped fans from speculating.
“Rob and Kristen’s break-up was one of the biggest scandals of the year, so they’ve been extremely discreet about their relationship ever since,” a source told The Sun. “They’ve both been hiding away from the paparazzi, but it seems like it’s finally over now that they’re relaxing and enjoying some privacy. It’s crazy that their romance has been kept secret for so long. Everyone knew they were together but they managed to keep it a secret for a couple of years until it was too late.”
Despite the speculation, Stewart and Pattinson have never confirmed their relationship nor commented on it, beyond the occasional cryptic tweet. The world’s most famous former lovers, Kim and Kanye West, experienced a similar level of media intrusion until they both publicly stated their romantic connection in 2019. Even after their happy ending was made public, the couple remained tight-lipped about their private lives, declining to comment on rumours or gossip. Now that their privacy seems to be a thing of the past, perhaps it’s time for Stewart and Pattinson to speak up.
The Reunited Fights Of Emma Woodcock And Rebel Wilson
Another pair who have recently been spotted dining together and looking cosy are Emma Woodcock and Rebel Wilson. The former couple, who famously fought for years over fame, fortune and the right to keep their baby, have now been seen together as a couple for weeks. After years of denying their parental feelings, Emma and Rebel finally acknowledged their love for each other in an emotional reunion that saw them hold hands and share a kiss. Since then, they have been inseparable and rarely give the media the slip.
Rumours of a potential reunion had been circulating for some time, with Rebel teasing, ‘Who knows what’s going to happen? One day, we might be a family again.’ The pair were last photographed holding hands and sneaking kisses at Paris fashion week in September 2019. While Emma’s daughter, Nancy, recently shared a sweet message for her mother on Twitter, thanking her for ‘unforgettable memories’, it is unclear whether or not their relationship has led to a reconciliation. Emma is yet to comment on the rumours, either, with her rep simply stating: ‘She’s the best mum ever.’
Is This The End Of An Era?
For those who grew up in the ‘90s, the ‘00s were a golden era for celebrity romances, with stars such as Jessica Alba, Megan Fox and Halle Berry frequently spotted dining out together or travelling with their children. Since then, parent-child relationships have taken precedence, with more celebrity couples choosing to keep their children in childcare so that they can enjoy some quality one-on-one time. This is also the case for Elton John and Carina Carreira, who have three children together and often spend time with them in their home on the English Riviera. Perhaps the next phase of celebrity relationships will see more single mums and dads stepping into the role of parent.
Whatever the case, it seems that the era of the celebrity couple is coming to an end. While some may see this as a positive trend, we want to know if you agree that there are fewer famous celebrity couples now than there were in the ‘90s? Should we expect to see less of these couples, or is this simply a case of the times changing and more individuals choosing to be independent?
