Two of Hollywood’s hottest stars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, are holding nothing back as they explore their true feelings in a new sneak peek of Twilight: The Exhibition—which opened in London today (July 5).
The actor-turned-director, Robert, made his directorial debut with the psychological horror film, The Rover. He also stars in the upcoming horror-drama, Oculus, which will be released on October 25.
The 24-year-old Kristen appeared in the Twilight saga as the love interest of Edward Cullen (played by Pattinson). The actress admitted that she identified with her character in the film—a vulnerable schoolgirl who falls for the charms of her charismatic teacher, Mr. Cullen.
Since the end of their romance in 2012, the pair have kept a fairly low profile. However, they recently signed on to play a married couple, Larry and Brenda, in a proposed new series for TV Land called Marry Me. The show will explore couples in turmoil as they try to negotiate their relationships while also navigating the demands of their professions and families.
When it comes to her personal life, Kristen has largely remained silent, apart from sharing a few tidbits of information here and there. Last year, she gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Genevieve. The actress also opened up about her struggles with anxiety, which she attributes to her busy schedule and the paparazzi. “I don’t know if people who have anxiety can really understand how exhausting it is to live your life outside your head,” Kristen said in an interview with Cosmo’s UK website. “It’s a strain, both mentally and physically, to have to keep checking out what you’re projecting and looking for things to worry about. I think that’s what makes me anxious. It’s a really strange mixture of things.”
While the media has kept a close eye on Kristen’s personal life, it’s perhaps Pattinson’s more secluded moments that have captured the public’s imagination. After the pair’s on-off relationship went public, the actor underwent an intensive self-examining process that saw him tackle his own insecurities and see his former lover in a new light. “I think that in our society, there’s this pressure to be perfect at whatever you do, and I think that applies to dating, and applying for a job, and being a parent,” Pattinson said in an interview with Esquire’s James Parker. “There’s a sense that if you can’t be perfect at dating, or being a perfect parent, then you’re not worthy of being with someone else, or deserving of having kids, or deserving of being in a relationship.”
Since the end of their three-year romantic journey, Kristen and Robert have kept a low profile, apart from a few joint appearances, like this year’s Césars awards, where they presented an award to their idol, Woody Allen.
As for what direction their personal relationship has taken, neither seems to be in a hurry to dive back into the dating pool. “I don’t want to rush into anything,” Kristen told Vogue. “I’m just kind of taking things as they come.”
Whether business or pleasure, love or lust, these two superstitions are bound to keep the paparazzi busy for years to come.
