There is no denying that the past year has been a crazy one for Hollywood. From breaking news stories to blockbuster premieres, the world has turned its attention to the silver screen. With so many memorable moments to look back on, TVGuide has selected a few of our favorite celebrity weddings from the past year.
Nancy Meyers’ Wedding
Meyers is one of the great American writers behind some of the most memorable movies of all time. We can think of few actresses more suited to be married than the glamorous actress behind Annie Hall and House of Gucci. The wedding took place at a beautiful Beverly Hills hotel and was officiated by none other than Dick Clark. The couple exchanged vows and declared their undying love for one another as their closest family and friends looked on in awe. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed an extravagant reception as the newlyweds danced the night away.
Meyers is arguably the most famous writer of romantic comedies, and her work is often credited with changing the face of cinema. It’s no wonder that she would want to capture the magic of falling in love on film. With so many beautiful weddings to choose from, it’s no surprise that TVGuide has decided to break down the top five celebrity weddings from this year.
Rob Pattinson’s Wedding
The year 2020 will mark our fourth wedding anniversary, and it just so happens that we are blessed with a couple who perfectly encapsulates the essence of marriage. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony at an English country estate in August. The stunning backdrop to the day included rolling hills, stone walls, and acres of green grass. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a glorious reception as the newlyweds danced the night away.
For those of you who may be wondering, this is the same Rob Pattinson who played Ed Sheeran in the movie Sheeran and who you may know as the BFFs of the decade, Cara Delevingne and Tilda Swinton. Swinton’s wedding to designer Ralph Fiennes was our number one wedding of the year last year, and we can see why with this spectacular union.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Wedding
Pitt is one of the most versatile and handsome actors of our time. He is a true Hollywood legend, having starred in some of the most memorable films of all time. He’s also been a part of some of the most important events in modern history, including the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. Despite his success, the actor always keeps his down-to-earth persona, preferring to keep his private life private. That’s probably why he and Jolie have been together for so long.
Pitt and Jolie met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005 and quickly became inseparable. Their wedding in June was attended by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Penélope Cruz and Michael Caine. The ceremony was beautiful, private, and very fitting for the couple as they made their grand entrance in a horse-drawn carriage. The reception was held at the same stunning hotel in Beverly Hills that the wedding ceremony took place in. The couple danced the night away, as guests enjoyed some of the most memorable speeches of the year.
Kate Winslet and Joe Griffith’s Wedding
This year has been a big one for weddings, and it wasn’t only celebrities getting hitched. We had some wonderful weddings in real life, as well. Winslet’s wedding to film producer Joe Griffith was one of the most unforgettable of the year. The fair isle-bridal ensemble was a lovely touch as the actress married her childhood sweetheart. Winslet has been together with Griffith for almost a decade and seems to find great joy in every chapter of their story. After the ceremony, guests were treated to an epic party, with some of Hollywood’s biggest names in attendance. The couple made a grand entrance on horseback as guests gathered to celebrate the start of a new family.
George Clooney and Amal Clooney’s Wedding
The year 2021 will mark our third wedding anniversary, and we couldn’t be more excited. The iconic American actor and fashion designer teamed up for a luxurious event in the British Virgin Islands. Guests sat down to a wedding brunch that was followed by an award-winning performance from the King and Queen of Jordan. The couple was married by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a beautifully intimate ceremony that was strictly private. The newlywed couple chose the breathtaking Six Senses Spindali Bay as their wedding venue. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed an epic party, complete with beachside jazz bands, face paintings, and dancing until dawn. The couple’s love for each other and their desire to create a family were on full display for all to see.
