It has been a busy year for Jennifer Lopez and her man, Robert Pattinson! They were married in May 2019 and are now expecting their first child together. The “On the Run’” singer-actress was previously married to the basketball player, Alexis Ohanian, for ten years before she wed Robert, who is 27 years her senior. The couple already have a young daughter, Emelia, who is 2 years old. This will be JLo’s first child with Robert, though she has a stepdaughter named Ruby from her previous marriage.
The 56-year-old has been busy filming the upcoming basketball documentary, “The Book of Life,” based on the life of her late father, Frankie: a former professional basketball player and owner of the Harlem Globetrotters. The film will also explore the trials and tribulations that came with being the daughter of a famous father. The project is scheduled to be released in August 2020.
The Wedding
Jennifer married Robert Pattinson in a lavish wedding ceremony at the Little Brown Church in Los Angeles on May 24, 2019. The couple became engaged in January 2019 after less than a year of dating. The ceremony was attended by friends and family including the bride’s parents, Carmel and Elio; her step-brother, Michael; and her stepsister, Erica. Guests watched in awe as the bride and groom walked down the aisle together while K-pop group, BTS, performed “God Is Always Watching” and “Doom and Death” from their album, “Map of the Soul: 7,” which was dedicated to the couple.
The day before the wedding, the couple held a bachelorette party at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. While other attendees wore white, JLo donned a beautiful yellow gown and selected accessories to match. She accessorized with a matching yellow belt and shoes, which she said she bought because she was “sick of wearing white.” The dress is designed by Rosie Rossi and has a strapless lace bodice with a high neckline and a train that flows down the back. It is covered in little gold circles that glisten in the light. Other attendees included model-turned-doctor, Khloe Kardashian; reality star, Kourtney Kardashian; and musician-turned-designer, Tyga.
The Parental Bond
While many celebrities marry someone they meet through social media, Jennifer Lopez and Robert Pattinson have been dating for a while before their wedding day. According to Page Six, the couple first met on TikTok when Robert was looking for a piano artist to collaborate with on a track for his music studio. After speaking with his manager, Jason Beghe, he reached out to JLo, who had been posting covers of popular songs on her own channel. Shortly after, they started filming videos together and eventually decided to pursue a life together full time.
The couple’s first child, a son, Esmir Pattinson, was born in September 2018. They named him after the village and castle, where “The Princess Bride” was shot. The newborn’s godparents are Michael Jackson and Paris Jackson, his paternal aunt and uncle, and his maternal grandparents, Yoko Ono and Sean Ono. The kid will also have a younger sister, Lyra, who is 4 years old.
The House Party
JLo and Robert hosted a house party the night before Christmas last year. Their guests included Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson, Cara Delevingne, and many more. The party was a chance for the couple to celebrate their one-year anniversary and the birth of their first child. Many of the party attendees are also in the wedding party photos that the couple shared on their respective social media accounts. (They have yet to post the birth of their son, Esmir.)
While some may see the star-studded get-together as just another publicity stunt, it is clear that JLo and Robert are committed to each other. The “On the Run’” singer has been vocal about the difficulty of being in a committed relationship while maintaining a public image. She believes that fame sometimes gets in the way of a relationship. However, she remains hopeful that everyone can find happiness, especially since she has such a great support system.
