What Ifs is loosely based on the life of its writer, Zach Kanfer. After being discharged from the Army, Zach began writing down his often hilarious fantasies about life as a Hollywood celebrity. The first of these stories was published in GQ in 2011 when he was 19-years-old. Since then, Zach’s work has been featured in several publications, including The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety. What Ifs marks his Hollywood coming out party. It was officially released in theaters on August 31, although select locations had it a day early.
