Rumors of a breakup between Robert Pattinson and his longtime girlfriend, model/actress Twigg’s, have been circulating for a while now. And while the couple have kept quiet about their relationship, they haven’t exactly hidden their growing affection for each other either. After all, the 29-year-old star was spotted kissing Twiggs on the mouth during an intimate night out in New York City back in April. But despite their public displays of affection, are the rumors of a breakup truly just rumors?
The answer may very well be yes. According to a report from British tabloid The Sun, Pattinson has moved on romantically and is now seeing a woman named Elle. While the name and nature of Elle’s relationship with Pattinson has not been disclosed, the two were reportedly spotted together in New York City earlier this month. It was also noted that the fair isle-blonde was wearing a diamond ring on her left hand during the outing.
The question is: Will Elle become Pattinson’s new co-star, alongside Twiggs, in his film franchise? And will she be joining the likes of Dakota Fanning, Kate Winslet, and Marion Cotillard on the big screen?
Why Are People Still Questioning The Breakup?
While most people have moved on from the silly season and are eagerly waiting for the next installment of the Twilight saga, some fans still seem to be clinging to hope that Robert Pattinson will return to the silver screen with Twiggs. To those individuals, let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. Back in March, Pattinson was seen kissing Twiggs on the mouth during an intimate night out in New York City. Since then, the couple have made a public display of their affection, often holding hands and staying close during promotional events and gatherings. But despite the growing speculation that the couple might be headed for a breakup, many are still clinging to the hope that they will somehow reconcile. Some have even gone so far as to suggest that the actor/writer will one day wed Twiggs. Could this be because people assume that the pair are “supposed” to be together?
While it’s true that Edward Cullen and Bella Swan were famously united in “love” at the end of the series, their relationship was largely forced upon them by the writer/director of the films. Sure, there were a few romantic subplots along the way, but for the most part, Edward and Bella’s journey to the altar was predetermined. And even then, it wasn’t until after they had already begun living together that they decided, “You know what? We are meant to be together.” After all, it wasn’t until Bella’s 18th birthday that Edward declared his love for her.
With the exception of Victoria (Bella’s mom), Edward’s family has always played an integral part in his love life. In fact, Edward’s older brother, Charlie, who is played by Chris O’Hara in the film series, openly encourages him to stick it to the “vampires” and find “true love.” For his part, Pattinson has spoken openly about his deep connection to his family, and how much they’ve helped him along the way. “I think it’s really important to have a supportive family,” he told Parade. “Some people need that more than anything else in their lives.”
In regard to the possibility of reuniting with Twiggs, perhaps Pattinson is waiting to see how this one plays out before making any more elaborate plans. So far, Twiggs has been very open about her desire to have children and see them grow up with her partner. When the couple first started dating, Twiggs was already in the process of adopting a baby girl. Fortunately, that girl happened to be a domestic infant, and not a purebred. If the model wants to continue modeling and acting, she might need to put her career on hold for a while. And since Twiggs is already in her 30s, this could pose a bit of a problem when it comes to finding a suitable mate. She might also have to accept some “spinster” status, if she chooses to remain childless.
What About Elle?
While many are interested in whether or not the breakup between Robert Pattinson and Twiggs is legitimate, few have anything good to say about Elle, the woman the actor is now rumored to be dating. According to the tabloid, the 29-year-old has been described as “gold-digging,” “catty,” and “cheap.” While many have dismissed these as unfounded rumors, there is certainly evidence to support them. For example, it was reported in 2011 that Elle and her then-partner Kevin Durand were trying to work their way into the upper echelons of show business through the use of fake identities. They were both arrested back in 2009 for identity theft and fraud, charges which they both denied. Elle also had a restraining order placed against her by the spouse of a former boyfriend. And in 2010, she was arrested for punching a man in the face during an argument. The man she allegedly attacked was in a wheelchair, and while she denied she had targeted him because of his condition, she did admit that she had “lost it.”
To say that Elle is not what one would typically consider “marriage material” is an understatement. But apparently, that’s what Robert Pattinson is looking for at this point in his life. And since the tabloid’s claims are, in fact, true, perhaps the very least that Elle can offer is a brief, fake happy ending. But whether or not she will continue to stay in Pattinson’s life for the long haul is another matter altogether. Rumors of a breakup between the pair have been circulating for a while now, but despite their public displays of affection, it appears that Twiggs and Pattinson aren’t quite over yet. Maybe they’ve just grown tired of being questioned about their relationship. Who knows? One thing’s for sure: They’re both going to keep doing what they do best – posing for the cameras and letting the world know they’re still together. The only difference is, this time they’re going to do it for real. Or at least, that’s what they have planned. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out. And as for Elle, well, let’s just say she can look forward to an additional decade or so of alone time. She’s certainly going to need it.
