It’s been over a year since Robert Pattinson and Kate Bosworth were married in an intimate ceremony in Italy. Since then, not much has been said about the pair’s relationship status. However, while promoting her new album, BSNESTSE, the actress stopped by the Late Show with Steven Colbert and revealed that she and Robert have gone their separate ways.
“We’ve really split up. We’re actually going to be really separate people. He’s a photographer and I’m going to focus on work and my music,” she told Colbert. “I think that we both needed to go our separate ways and figure out what we want out of life. It’s just the way it happened. We’re still friends and we’re still working together.”
While it was great to hear that things are now amicably resolved between Kate and Robert, it did come as somewhat of a surprise to hear that the Twilight alumna was acting in the first place. Prior to her relationship with Robert, Kate had already established herself as one of Hollywood’s most promising up-and-coming actresses. In 2007 she landed one of Hollywood’s biggest rom-com roles as the female half of a vampire couple in the highly anticipated Twilight Saga.
Twilight definitely changed Kate’s life forever. Just six years later she’s co-starring with Robert in the mega-hit Dark Shadows. The two reportedly work extremely well together, which is why they were chosen to play the lead roles in The Lost Boys. A year after that, Kate made the big leap to leading lady and co-starred with Robert in Cosmopolitain, a romantic comedy film set in Madrid. Her most recent appearance in a feature film was in Last Christmas, a 2015 film that was loosely based on Ian Fleming’s short story, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’.
Since 2012 Kate has been hard at work on her musical side and released a number of singles, including ‘Boomerang’ and ‘Girl Most Likely. In March 2014 her debut album, Dance or Action, was released and debuted at number two on the Billboard Top 20 New Artist Albums chart. Three months later her single ‘Boomerang’ became her first Billboard Top 40 hit, reaching number four on the Pop Songs chart.
In 2016, Kate released her second album, Something Better and began touring the US in support of the album. While most of her tours have been sold out, the actress has kept a busy schedule between filming commitments and appearances on TV shows like The Lost Boys and The Handmaid’s Tale. In addition to her musical career, Kate has also dabbled in acting and design, with a focus on fashion and style. In a 2014 interview with Elle UK, she opened up about her love of fashion and how it helped her to get into character for all of her roles:
“I’ve always been really into fashion, even before I started acting. Once I started acting, it was like looking at a different version of me and it helped me to really identify with the character. I like dressing the part and feeling like the character,” she said.
Why Are Kate And Robert Apart?
Since their romance in the fall of 2012, Kate and Robert have kept a relatively low profile. In fact, not much is known about their lives together outside of their professional circles. While most people would assume that they’d eventually tie the knot, it seems that their busy schedules have made them more mindful of their priorities. According to multiple reports, Robert’s work ethic is what initially kept Kate’s attentions, as he would often drag her away from her luxurious daily routines to go on photo shoots or attend casting calls. But these are just stories meant to be rumoured and gossiped about. What’s true is that the couple have spent a lot of time apart, which for Robert is probably a good thing. He’s currently shooting the third and final season of the HBO series, The Deuce, which focuses on the early days of the adult film industry in New York City. While he wouldn’t confirm or deny the rumours, the actor did tell Harper’s Bazaar in 2014 that he sees their time apart as a good thing because it has allowed them to “work through the issues” that they were having.
It was actually Kate’s mother, Marion, who first revealed in a 2016 interview with the New York Times that the actress and her husband were taking a break. While the interview mainly focused on Marion’s new show, Inside Marion’s Mind, it was the little bombshell at the end that had everyone talking. As Marion stated, “She’s very talented, and he’s an extremely hard worker. They were having trouble finding the right rhythm, and I think they just need a little bit of time apart. They’ve been together a long time, and I think they’ve realized they need to take a step back and figure out what’s important to them.”
New Album And Possible Collaborations
While it appears that Kate and Robert have settled into a comfortable rut, their schedules have certainly diversified and changed. In 2017 they not only worked together on Dark Shadows but the pair also collaborated on a photo shoot for Harper’s Bazaar and a short film for Vogue. The photos from the Harper’s Bazaar shoot were later included in the November 2017 issue of the British magazine. Dark Shadows will no doubt continue to have a lasting impact on Kate’s career. Not only did it launch her into superstardom but it also made her a household name in Europe and the UK. Aside from taking home the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Romance Comedy, Kate also won an Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Actress. In 2018 she will star in an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s, The Death of Ivan Ilych, an adaptation of Gustave Flaubert’s, Madame Bovary, and also the highly anticipated musical, Colette, which is based on the life of author, Alice B. Toklas. She’s also set to star opposite Tom Hanks in the movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, The Prom. While none of these projects have yet to start production, they’re all in the card-holder for the talented 27-year-old.
Will Kate And Robert Ever Reconciled?
Kate and Robert may have taken a break while they worked out their issues, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t want to be together. While it would be wonderful to see them tie the knot, it’s clear that their busy schedules and separate priorities have prevented that from happening. In 2018 Kate opened up about their relationship in a revealing interview with Parade magazine. When asked if she ever thinks about reconciliation, she responded: “All the time. I mean, I absolutely do. When you spend that much time apart, it’s not easy to just come back together. But as much as I’d like to be with Robert, we both have to be practical, and right now those two things aren’t really compatible.”
Whether or not Kate and Robert will ever reconcile remains to be seen, but it’s clear that they both want to be in each other’s company. As long as they can figure out a way to make that happen, we’re sure that they’ll continue to enjoy each other’s company until the end. Until then, we’ll have to make do with the photos they send us…
