Ever since news broke that the actor Robert Pattinson had been spotted at Los Angeles International Airport, there’s been a whole lot of speculation as to whether or not he and his rumored girlfriend, Chinese actress Chen Jingchen, are truly an item. While the actor has been relatively quiet on social media since the story broke, he did take the time to comment on the speculation in an interview with The Times:
“All I can say is that we’re good friends, but we don’t know what the future holds,” he said. “I think it would be disrespectful to either of us if we started something that wasn’t respectful. So we’ve focused on being respectful of one another, and that’s been challenging because we live our lives so publicly. We’re brought up in a time where people aren’t used to seeing such a close relationship between friends. That can make things a little complicated. When we meet, we want to be able to talk to each other like we normally would, without any sort of weird press distractions. But everyone is entitled to their opinions, and we don’t want to be disrespectful to anyone. So I guess what I’m saying is, we’re taking this one step at a time.”
While it’s never easy to know exactly what’s going on with your favorite celebrity (especially one as private and reclusive as Pattinson), the actor’s recent comments seem to indicate that he and Chen, whose real name is Yu Meizhen, are indeed committed to one another. And it looks like they’re treating their relationship with a lot of romance! As previously reported by People, Chen was seen matching the dress code and location of the actor’s choosing (the Grove in Los Angeles) on Valentine’s Day, and the next day, they were spotted kissing and cuddling on a sofa. Since that time, they’ve been photographed together multiple times, including on Valentine’s Day, holding hands as they walked to their vehicle, and walking through a building’s doors together.
Though they’ve been dating for a while now and seem to be well suited for one another, this is still a bit of a risky relationship for Chen, who is well-known for her independent and daring nature. With their different nationalities — she’s Chinese, he’s English — it’s unclear how their romantic partnership will pan out. But if their engagement is any indication, it seems that Chen is bringing a gem to the table.

Although it is still early in the relationship, Chen seems to be taking the initiative, actively pursuing the romantic side of things. As previously reported by People, she took the stage with the actor during the 2019 San Francisco International Film Festival to announce their partnership. In a romantic gesture, Pattinson presented Chen with a rose before they took their seats for the screening. The two have also been photographed holding hands, and the relationship clearly shows no signs of slowing down.
So, is she the one? We may never know for sure, but if their history is any indication, it seems like Chen is bringing something special to the table, and it would be a shame to miss out on this opportunity. While it’s never easy to commit to one person, if they’re treating their relationship with as much romance as these pictures seem to suggest, it’s clear that Chen is bringing something worthwhile to the table.
