Most people are aware of the fact that Robert Pattinson is British. However, did you know that he is also American?
The “Snow White and the Huntsman” star was born in London, England, on December 21, 1986. After moving around a bit, he grew up in Los Angeles, California. His mother is an American and his father is English. Therefore, he holds both British and American passports.
Although many of his fans think that he is English, he has actually stated that he considers himself to be American. In an interview with Esquire, the “Twilight” actor stated, “I’m going to be completely honest with you: I consider myself to be, completely, 100 percent American. I went to school in London, but I feel like a completely different animal to the person that went there.”
He added, “For so long, when someone heard my name, they’d say: ‘Oh, you’re British.’ But that’s actually not true. I’m from California. And, yeah, I consider myself to be very much of an outsider.”
He also spoke about his love for acting, which came first, and his time in Hollywood. He said, “I’d been acting since I was a teenager, and I had done a few low-budget independent films. But I’d never really thought about going to Hollywood because, frankly, I wasn’t really that good. I was happy just to be able to pay my rent.”
However, after being cast in the “Twilight” film series, his career took off and he is now one of the most in-demand leading men in Hollywood.
