There is no question that Twilight was one of the biggest movies of all time. With its unprecedented popularity, there were bound to be people who wanted to pay tribute to the blockbuster franchise with a suit based on the movie’s main character, Edward Cullen.
But is Edward’s suit actually based on actor Rob Pattinson or his character from the film? Let’s take a quick look.
The Suits Are Different
Unlike other film franchises, such as James Bond and Harry Potter, Twilighty’s main character doesn’t wear a suit throughout the entire series. Yes, he does wear a three-piece suit in the film’s opening scenes, but for the rest of the movie he sports either a t-shirt or a hoodie. Now that we think about it, a lot of Rob’s on-screen attire could be mistaken for plain old clothing.
Also, if you’ve seen the latest movie in the series, you may have noticed that Edward doesn’t look exactly like himself. This is because the actor who plays him, Robert Pattinson, is actually two years older than Rob. In other words, since the movie is set in an alternative present-day, Edward’s appearance in the 2018 movie is basically how Robert Pattinson looks now.
The Designer
While we’re on the topic of Rob’s outfit, it’s important to point out that his fashion choices are made by outside designers. For example, the famed British fashion house Hardy Amies is credited with making the first-ever fitted suit for Edward. So while the Hollywood universe may have glamorized the billionaire playboy, in real life he wears plain old suits.
The Price
It’s also important to note that, while Edward’s suit might look extremely similar to the one James Bond wears in the film, it didn’t cost him nearly as much. So if you’re looking to copy the suiter’s outfit, you’ll have to save up a lot of money.
No Regrets
When it comes to dressing up as a character from a movie, most people have one thing in mind: getting the outfit right. But there are some who decided to take the idea of copycat fashion to a whole new level by taking on the identity of famous movie characters with no regard for the cost. In some cases, they even went so far as to adopt the fashion choices of the character they were dressing up as.
For example, if you want to dress up as Pocahontas for Halloween, you’ll need to acquire a deer skin suit and some fake facial hair to complete the look. But is that really how Pocahontas would dress? Well, sort of. While it’s true that Pocahontas’ outfit from the movie resembles that of the actual historical figure, it’s not a completely accurate portrayal. The price of getting dressed as Pocahontas? A good part of your wardrobe.
Who’s Next?
It seems like every year Hollywood releases a whole lot of Halloween-themed outfits and costumes, so it’s hard to keep track of all of them. But one thing’s for sure—if you want to dress up as your favorite movie character, you’ll have a hard time finding something that doesn’t exist already.
