Now that we’ve had our first glimpse at Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice the world is eagerly awaiting to see how the cinematic version of the most iconic DC character will look like on the big screen. One of the most interesting aspects of the movie is its depiction of the Caped Crusader in the 1950s which is said to be a period that inspired the creation of the character. The most fascinating aspect of this movie is not connected to the character itself, but to the actor who will be portraying him, Robert Pattinson. How exactly does Robert look in the iconic Batman costume?
How Tall is Robert Pattinson in The Batman Suit?
While many of us are eagerly anticipating the movie premiere to get our first glimpse of how Robert Pattinson will look as Batman, the truth is we don’t really know how tall he is in real life. So, to get an idea of how tall he will look as the Caped Crusader, we need to first find out how big he is in real life. To do this, we need to consult some reliable sources like the CIA database or the FBI’s most wanted fugitives. The good news is we don’t need to look far because in 2013, Robert was listed as the 6th tallest actor in Hollywood. This was based on a survey conducted by Look Magazine that ranked the top 40 most powerful men in Hollywood. While most of the actors on this list are probably familiar to you, the fact that Robert made it as an actor on his own merit is pretty amazing.
With all the talk of superheroes these days, it’s almost hard to believe that the once humble actor would one day don the iconic black and white suit. After all, it was Alfred Pennyworth who first observed that there was “no denying Robert’s flair for the dramatic.” And so it was, in 2007, Robert was given the opportunity to play the role of Batman. Though there have been many iconic Batman suits over the years, this is certainly one of the most exciting moments in Robert’s career. With the character being more than six feet tall, it’s no wonder why many fans want to know how tall Robert is in real life. It’s not easy being 6’1″,” and it looks like Robert is using his giant stature to his advantage.
The Caped Crusader’s Secret Origin
While many of us are familiar with Batman’s classic 60s look, it was actually the work of Bob Kane and his wife, Dorothy that initially inspired the Dark Knight. According to Bob Kane’s daughter, these were the original Dark Knight drawings:
“It was either going to be a baby grand piano, or the Statue of Liberty.” – Ruth Kane
“I said, ‘What about the bat?’ And he said, ‘What about the bat? That’s what it’s going to be.’ And so, that became the symbol of Batman.” – Bob Kane
Though Kane may be best known for co-creating Batman with his wife, he is actually responsible for many other influential characters including the Green Lantern and the Joker. It seems that in addition to being a skilled artist, Bob was also incredibly smart and innovative, two qualities that undoubtedly helped him create some of the greatest characters in comics. Of course, without Mr. and Mrs. Kane, there would be no Batman, no Joker, and no Green Lantern.
How Tall is Robert Pattinson in The Joker Suit?
It’s only fair to say that Robert doesn’t have a very good track record when it comes to his height. Though he is classified as a giant among men, he doesn’t seem to put much effort into keeping it. In fact, his height appears to be a source of amusement for him rather than pride. The Joker, however, is a much more complex character. Though he may dress like a clown, he clearly has a dark side.
According to the Internet, Robert is either 6’2″ or 6’3″ in the Joker suit. And while we have no way of confirming this information, it’s clear that he’s taking this opportunity to have some fun. In one of the film’s most memorable scenes, Robert stands atop a building and lifts both himself and a fully-grown man in a Batman Joker mask. Though this probably isn’t something that the average Joe can do, it’s clear that Robert is having a ball playing the Joker. And what’s more is that the filmmakers were smart enough to cast an average Joe in the role.
Does Batman Have A Bigger Brother?
Based on the movie trailer, it appears that Batman may have some pretty large brothers. Whether they’re identical or not is something that we’ll just have to wait and see. In the trailer, two men that appear to be brothers are seen wearing Batman and/or Robin (Dick Grayson) themed t-shirts. Not much else is known about these two other men, whose identities are currently unknown. Though it’s unusual for two brothers to dress the same, these t-shirts clearly have Batman and Robin on them, so it’s safe to assume that these men may be related to Dick Grayson.
Batman’s Relationship With His Parents
Though we don’t know much about Batman’s background, what we do know indicates that he wasn’t always meant to be a solo act. Based on leaked set photos, it appears that Robert is portraying a younger version of Bruce Wayne in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. If these photos are to be believed, then it would seem that Bruce was actually quite a bit older than the actor currently playing him. This, however, is simply speculation as the identity of the mysterious man seen in the photos has not been confirmed. Additionally, there are some subtle differences in the way Bruce Wayne and Robert Pattinson’s characters behave, which could be a result of the actor’s performance as opposed to his actual age. Though it’s too early to tell, it’s clear that Robert is bringing his A-game to the role.
How Does Robert Work With Director Zack Snyder?
Though he’s had some serious acting gigs over the years, Robert has always maintained a very laid-back attitude toward his work. And it’s this very laid-back attitude that has helped him cultivate an incredible network of friends in this industry. This network has undoubtedly helped Robert find work on projects that he might not have been considered for. Even when not working, Robert has maintained a very social media-friendly attitude, engaging with his fans on Twitter and occasionally commenting on articles concerning the film industry.
According to leaked set photos, Robert is working with a very experienced crew. Though Snyder has only directed a handful of films, he has established himself as one of Hollywood’s most popular directors due to a combination of skill and luck. With amazing production values and a unique cinematic style, Snyder’s films typically portray dark and often surprisingly morbid subject matter. When paired with his laid-back attitude, it’s no wonder why Robert is interested in participating in Snyder’s next project.
The Future Of Batman.
After Ben Affleck played the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman for 10 years, it was clear that there was a lot more than one man beneath the cowl. Though he originally intended to play the role for only one film, fans quickly grew to love the gritty take on the character that he brought. Affleck, however, had other plans and in 2016, he announced that he would be stepping down from the role of Batman, handing it off to Jacob Bennington, who would also be playing the role in an upcoming adaptation of The Batman.
Though it was initially said that this would be Bennington’s last acting role, it appears that the actor might not be the man that fans wanted behind the mask. While on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Bennington revealed that he had already begun pre-production on a new movie titled The Batman which will serve as his final hurrah as the Caped Crusader. Though we don’t have any details about the plot or the characters, it’s clear that this will be one last hurrah for Batman.
While many of us are excited about the upcoming movies based on DC Comics’ most iconic characters, it’s important to keep in mind that they’re just films. Despite all the talk of superheroes, it’s still just a bunch of pixels on a screen.
