The age difference between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart is so great that they can’t even be considered to be the same generation. When it comes to their film careers, Pattinson was born in 1980 and Stewart in 1984. They have had very different rise to fame trajectories. While Pattinson became a household name in the UK after appearing in the Twilight films, it wasn’t until the 2013 London Olympics that Stewart really made a name for herself. Since then, she has starred in numerous critically acclaimed films and commercials, and has even designed her own range of jewellery. We take a look at how old Pattinson and Stewart are now, and how much they have both changed as adults.
How Old Is Robert Pattinson?
Twilight may have made Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson global stars, but it was Far From The Madding Crowd that put them on the map. The actor was born in Surrey in 1980, and his family moved to Los Angeles when he was four years old. The actor grew up in Beverly Hills and attended the prestigious Hockley School before dropping out of school and going directly into acting. After a few minor roles in films and TV shows, Pattinson landed the part of Cedric Diggory in the 2010 movie Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2. This role propelled him to immediate stardom. Now aged 27, Pattinson has starred in blockbusters such as the upcoming The Lost City Of Z, and the action movie Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. Since then, his impressive filmography includes starring roles in the Divergence films, The Ledge, Pattinson, and Water For Elephants. The actor also appears in the upcoming Denis Leary comedy Rules Of Engagement alongside Reese Witherspoon, but you may know him best for his relationship with the incredibly beautiful and talented actress Kristen Stewart. The pair were linked romantically in 2010, and they became engaged a year later. Since then, they have been inseparable, and regularly share on-screen kisses and high five each other in movies. It was announced in January 2019 that the couple are expecting their first child. The news was met with widespread congratulations.
How Old Is Kristen Stewart?
Unlike his more established colleague, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart didn’t find fame overnight when she was 24 years old and starred in the Twilight films. She first came to prominence in 2006 when she won an award for Best Performance In A Short Film at the Berlin International Film Festival for her role in Mud. Since then, she has gone on to appear in major films such as Easy A, Thirteen, and Us. She was even one of the faces of Estee Lauder’s ‘I Love A Man In My Clothes’ advertising campaign. In 2018, Stewart was also named Person Of The Year by Elle Magazine, acknowledging her “outstanding talent and influence on the international stage”. It’s fair to say that, since appearing in one of the biggest films of all time, Twilight, Stewart has found massive success and made a name for herself. She often shares on-screen kisses with Robert Pattinson, but in 2019, she confirmed that they had broken up. While the split was amicable, it hasn’t been an easy few years for Stewart, who battled rumours of an affair with her costar, Taylor Lautner, and also had to deal with backlash over her friendship with musician Selena Gomez. In between all that, Stewart did manage to keep busy working on her career and recently starred in the comedy series, Cobra Kai, alongside Lucy Liu and Alfred Molina. As for her personal life, she is often referred to as a lifestyle luxury icon, and in 2018, Elle Magazine proclaimed her as “the most powerful woman in Hollywood” due to her “impeccable taste” and “genuine talent”.
The Rise Of Twilght
The Twilight film series was first published as a collection of short stories by William Muller in 1869, and was initially rejected by 41 publishers before being accepted by Columbia University Press. The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the first of the series to be published in 2007, and was followed by Twilight (2008), Eclipse (2010), and Breaking Dawn (2012). Each novel was initially published as a standalone work, but were later combined into a single volume for ease of reading. The film series was adapted for the big screen by Mitchell Mascolo and Nikki Keskes, and was directed by Catherine Burks. The films were a massive success, and became the highest-grossing series of all time, earning a combined total of over $11.83billion at the box office. Twilight won several awards, including Best Fantasy Film at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, and was nominated for a 2010 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. The other films were also nominated for Academy Awards, with Eclipse being particularly notable for its adapted screenplay nomination. It was also the first time that a film series based on digital fiction had been adapted for the big screen. The films were a turning point in Mascolo’s and Keskes’s careers, as they went on to establish themselves as top-notch screenwriters, winning numerous awards for their work. Additionally, the Twilight films helped to define the vampire genre, and made superstitions about these creatures cool again. Supernatural creature features hadn’t been seen in films since the 1940s, but the success of Twilight inspired numerous imitations and inspired a new generation of horror fans. The trilogy ended with a breathless climax, as the fate of the human race was ultimately entrusted to these bloodthirsty creatures. It was a massive change from the action-packed beginnings of the series, and was a significant shift in tone which did not disappoint. For his part, Mascolo was also involved in the creation of the Teen Wolf television series, based on his own experiences growing up in Montreal. He wrote the pilot episode, “Pilot,” which was directed by Catherine Burks. The series premiered in January 2016, and was a massive critical and commercial success, winning numerous awards, including a 2017 Golden Globe for Best TV series – Drama. As for Twilight’s legacy, it will undoubtedly go down as one of the most influential film series of all time. While the cinematic legacy of Twilight is unquestioned, it was never more than a series of short stories, and it’s the characters and their unique stories which still resonate with fans today.
