While it’s often hard to keep track of the numerous projects that Robert Pattinson is involved in, it seems that he is always busy. The English actor is set to star in a new Batman movie later this year and then is preparing to reprise his role as the iconic superhero in 2021. Between the two of those upcoming films, Pattinson has a part in The Lighthouse, which is set for release later this year. There are also talks of a third Batman film in early 2022, but nothing has been confirmed just yet.

So how many Batman movies is Robert Pattinson doing? We’ll lay out the most recent developments with the Scarlet Knight so that you can keep track of his many roles.

New Batman Movie

On the heels of the highly successful Black Widow movie comes the second instalment in the recently concluded 21st century – The Batman. The latest addition to the ever-growing Batman film series is set for release on May 15, 2021 and stars Robert Pattinson as the title character. It’s no wonder that fans are so excited for this new Batman movie – the first one was a sleeper hit back in 1992 and has continued to grow in popularity ever since.

The movie will see Christian Bale’s Batman return and this time around, the Dark Knight is going to be taking on a whole new generation of bad guys. This will be the third Batman film for Bale and Pattinson and will be their first collaboration since 2004’s The Prestige. The movie also stars Gal Gadot as Batman’s loyal companion Selina Kyle, and the late and great John Murdock as J. Jonah Jameson, the legendary newspaper publisher. The cinematographer of the movie is Seamus McGarvey, while John Howe serves as editor.

Warner Bros. Pictures, the company that releases all of Batman’s films, is yet to make a formal announcement regarding The Batman’s opening weekend, but it’s already clear that this is going to be the year’s biggest opener. This weekend, Avengers: Endgame is set to dominate the box office and is expected to make over $300 million, setting a new record for the month of April. It will be interesting to see how much money The Batman makes in comparison. If the first weekend’s sales are any indication, it might just break the bank.

Upcoming Batman Reunions

The next entry in the Batman series will see Christian Bale return as Batman and is expected to be released in 2021. Now that we’ve established that he’ll be playing the part for the third time, it’s time for Bale to assemble an extraordinary cast of villains to face off against. We already know that Bale will be reunited with The Dark Knight Rises director Matt Reeves (whose credits include the Fantastic Beasts and Cloverfield movies), as well as Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Michael Caine (I, Claudius and Dead Men Walking) and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (The Lobster).

Not only does Christian Bale have plans to return as Batman sooner rather than later, but so does Robert Pattinson. The Sun reports that the Scottish actor is in negotiations to play the part and might even co-star with Bale. It’s an unexpected reunion as the two haven’t worked together since 2004’s The Prestige. It seems like everyone wants a piece of the action and it’s going to be interesting to see how this particular Batman installment turns out. The movie is currently in post-production and is slated for release in 2022.

Other Projects

Besides his co-starring role in the upcoming Batman movie, Robert Pattinson has a part in The Lighthouse, which is currently in post-production and is set for release on August 28, 2022. Directed by BAFTA award winner Peter Strickland, The Lighthouse sees Pattinson play Dr Samuel Johnson, the famous eighteenth-century English writer and lexicographer. He’ll be reunited with his Twilight co-star Billy Crudup and Oscar-nominated actress Kate Beckinsale in the role.

Pattinson isn’t just a movie star – he’s also a popular recording artist, having released two albums in his name. One of those is called Just Like Heaven and it’s available for purchase and on-demand listening through various platforms. On July 25, 2020, Pattinson released his third solo album, Living the Dream, which was inspired by his time spent working on the set of the Batman movie. The lead single from the album is called Dreamer and it’s available for purchase and on-demand listening through various platforms.

There are quite a few Batman movies that we know about and it’s important to keep in mind that these are pretty much all in-continuity movies. That is, the events that happen in one movie will carry over into the next one. We don’t really get that with the Arrowverse – the various shows that make up the DC TV Universe and the films that connect to them. For example, it’s not uncommon for Arrow to have major plot points that contradict what happened in the other show or film. That’s something that could change with time, as the shows continue to evolve, but for the most part, the Arrowverse feels separate and apart from the rest of the DC Universe. With that in mind, here are the most recent developments with the Scarlet Knight.
