You may know that Twilight actor Robert Pattinson has been in the news a lot lately. Between working on the new film Cosmopolis and promoting it, buying his newest home, and dealing with the press, he’s certainly had his hands full!
While he’s been busy, we’ve been busy getting an idea of what the actor looks like off-screen, and it turns out that he has quite a lot of grooming habits that we have to admit make him more handsome. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best hair and grooming looks from Pattinson’s career!
Long And Winding Road To Stardom
Before we begin, it should be pointed out that the Twilight actor has had a very successful career. Since his breakout role in the Twilight film series, he’s become a full-fledged international superstar, with fans of all ages across the globe. Needless to say, he’s been very busy with his career, so much so that he’s even had to put his Twilight time aside.
The actor’s had a very distinguished career, having been nominated for several awards, including a BAFTA for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He’s previously opened up about his struggle to make it in Hollywood, revealing that he had to drop out of UCLA just to make ends meet. He’s also spoken about how he made the transition from being an unknown to a Hollywood superstar, which was featured in a 2011 interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
Pattinson’s Iconic Look
We’ve already established that Pattinson has a lot of good habits, but they don’t just relate to his looks. In fact, one of the most distinctive features of this actor is how he chooses to wear his hair. He sports a very unique look that has made him a recognizable star, and it’s resulted in many imitators, some of whom have even gone to extreme lengths to replicate it. And, of course, the best way to replicate something is by stealing it, so there are clones all over the internet trying to be like Robert Pattinson.
The Cosmo Cover
One of the most interesting things about the Twilight series is how each film came with its own distinct visual identity. While the first film was all about vampires, the story, sets, and costumes, the succeeding movies shifted focus to a different theme. For example, the second film was based on the book The Great Gatsby, and it featured some fantastic period pieces. The costumes were mostly inspired by the Roaring 20s and featured a lot of pinstripes, which is why the film is often referred to as the ‘Pin Stripe Beauty’ sequel. Similarly, the third film was based on the theme of fame and also featured a number of iconic fashion stories, such as Marilyn Monroe’s dress being recreated for the grand finale. While these films were making money thanks to a devoted fan base, the producers were having to find ways to stretch their budgets, and one of the ways they did this was by commissioning elaborate and distinctive cover shoots for the DVDs.
Gatsby Is Great!
One of the standouts in the Twilight saga is unquestionably The Great Gatsby. The second film was a critical and commercial success, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a fantastic period piece set in the Roaring 20s, and it features one of the most iconic characters in literature, Nick Carraway. While he didn’t get the same recognition as the film’s other stars, such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, the audience still loves to hate him. Even now, almost ten years later, some fans still haven’t forgiven him for ruining their favorite character’s life in the first place.
The film’s costumes are amazing, as usual, and feature some fantastic designs by Catherine Martin, such as the iconic yellow blazer worn by DiCaprio. And those who love pinstripes will love watching the film, as it features some of the best pinstripe outfits ever seen on screen.
If you’ve never read the book, Gatsby is one of the best literary works of the 20th century and features one of the most iconic characters of all time, Jay Gatsby. So it goes to show that you don’t necessarily need to be a celebrity to stand out in a crowd – all you need is the talent to bring life to your characters and the imagination to make it feel like a scene from a classic novel.
The Mysterious Benedict Society
Another favorite of ours from the Twilight saga is The Mysterious Benedict Society. The third film in the series was more of an action-adventure than a period piece, but it still managed to evoke that classic Hollywood sense of wonder. The costumes and sets were again amazing, and the highlight of the movie for us is definitely the end credits. This is where the movie diverts from your usual fantasy fare and transitions into a thrilling mystery. With a twist at the end that I’m sure most people didn’t see coming!
The Mysterious Benedict Society is often cited as one of the best comedy-adventure films of all time, and it’s not that difficult to see why. The movie is full of funny characters and quirky occurrences, and it features one of the most unforgettable villains, Victor Fleming. While there’s not a whole lot to say about the film itself, as it’s still pretty popular, the fact that it’s such a cult classic is a testimony to its unique charms. It’s not often that you see such elaborate costumes and sets in a comedy, but then again, this isn’t your usual comedy.
This is another movie where the fashion choices of the main character, Phileas Fogg, are a highlight. Aside from the fact that the character is named after one of the most luxurious, high-end hotels in the world, the whole ‘Golden Age of Travel’ theme that the film promotes is something you’d usually associate with a fashion magazine, not a crime thriller.
The Lost City Of Atlantis
Another classic that comes with its own unique visual identity is The Lost City of Atlantis. The fourth film in the Twilight series was a departure from past movies, sticking closer to the book’s roots as a Gothic fairy tale. While it still had its share of elaborate set pieces, the costumes this time were simple and in keeping with the more gothic feel. Still, it’s one of the best in the series, and if you’ve never heard of the amazing ‘City Of Atlantis’ novel by Jules Verne, then it’s high time you should have. It was originally published in 1863 and is one of the best-selling novels of all time, having sold over eleven million copies worldwide!
The main character this time is an ordinary young woman named Evelyn, who discovers that she has extraordinary abilities, which she eventually combines with her regular job as an archaeologist. Together, they must save not just their own lives, but the world as they know it. The film was based on a true story and was somewhat of a commercial and critical success. It continues to this day to be one of the most popular Twilight films, and its enduring popularity is probably because of its authentic feel. While the costumes aren’t as extravagant as in some of the other films, they’re still very classy, and it doesn’t hurt that the character Evelyn is a strong and independent-minded woman.
Cosmopolis
We can’t talk about Robert Pattinson’s style choices without mentioning the much-anticipated Cosmopolis. The Twilight actor has said that he wanted to experiment with different styles and themes, and this desire manifested itself in the most elaborate and glamorous movie yet. While the costumes are incredible, boasting some of the most stunning fabrics and designs, the sets and locations are what truly stand out for us. And, let’s be honest, that’s what we’re here for isn’t it? All the fashion choices combined make for one incredible film. And, of course, we can’t forget about Mr. Pattinson’s hair and makeup teams, who have been creating looks for him that are both extravagant and on-point for the entirety of the film’s run-time.
Cosmo is the much-anticipated sequel to 2010’s Cosmopolis, and like its predecessor, the movie is set in the future. But whereas the latter was more of a dystopia, the former seeks to find a middle ground between the two. Like the novel on which it is based, the film features a group of disparate characters who must navigate the insanity that is modern life, as we know it. While there are some amazing outfits featured in the film, the highlight for us is unquestionably Pattinson’s hair and makeup. And let’s be honest, there aren’t many things that can match the luxury and decadence of the outfits, but the way he wears his hair and makes use of products to create various looks is something close to perfection.
