Jack Whitehall is a British journalist who has interviewed several celebrities, including J.K. Rowling, who he called “the patron saint of the modern-day skeptic.” He has also interviewed none other than the Twilight star, Robert Pattinson, about a variety of topics, from Harry Potter to music, and he has never gotten bored of the responses.

Whitehall was first asked about Robert by Vogue, and his response was:

“I have been a big fan of Robert Pattinson ever since I saw him in Cosmopolis. Although there are a lot of people who love his wild side, I’ve always liked his sensitive side. He has always struck me as a modern-day Casanova, which is unusual for a celebrity. I’ve asked a lot of famous people, and very rarely have they been as charming and engaging as he is. I don’t know if he’s ever going to be a typical Joe Bloggs, but I like to think that he might be the next best thing: our next big superstar. If I had a dollar for every time one of my articles was retweeted by him, I’d be a rich man. And if I had a dollar for every time a fan asked me if he was the next Harry Potter, I’d be even richer. It’s incredible how many people go crazy for Harry Potter, but ignore the fact that he’s English rather than magical. He’s always been a bit of a one-man band, and I think that’s what attracts so many people to him. He’s different and memorable, and I think that’s what makes Harry Potter so appealing and successful. It’s very rare to find a literary character that people actually want to be like, and I think that’s what makes Harry Potter so different from other characters in other books and other media. He’s a modern-day literary icon. I’ve always loved that about him.”

Pattinson has always been, and continues to be, incredibly charming, kind, and open to new experiences. It’s not surprising that Whitehall has been so drawn to him, especially since they share a unique connection in that both of their parents are acclaimed actors. But Whitehall also sees the Twilight star as a role model for young men, and he admires the way that Pattinson has managed to stay true to himself while still being a good role model for other young men. In another interview, Whitehall said:

“I’m a 27-year-old virgin who’s working really hard to change that. I’ve been writing for Vogue since 2014 and have been accredited by them as an authority on all things pop culture. I’ve interviewed J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter creator), Miley Cyrus (one of the biggest pop stars in the world), Taylor Swift (one of the biggest artists of our time), and now, Robert Pattinson (famous Twilight actor). It’s been incredible to see how many people my age have been brought into my orbit by Harry Potter. When I turned 27 last month, a lot of my friends surprised me with presents and cake. One of my friends even gave me a key to her house so I could come over whenever I want and watch movies. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. So, yeah, I guess I am a little bit of a cult figure…”

Why Does Jack Whitehall Love Harry Potter So Much?

Jack Whitehall has always been interested in celebrities, and in particular, he has always been fascinated by Harry Potter. It was Vogue in 2013 who first noticed this obsession, and since then, he has interviewed numerous celebrities about their experiences with the beloved series.

Here is a list of some of the celebrities that Jack Whitehall has interviewed about Harry Potter:

Robert Pattinson

He may be best known for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight films, but Robert Pattinson has also been interviewed by Jack Whitehall about a variety of topics, including his love for Harry Potter. It all began when Whitehall interviewed Rowling about Harry Potter and asked her about Pattinson, who was completely unknown at the time. Here is what Rowling had to say:

“It’s such a great compliment that so many men want to be like Harry. He’s not just a pretty face, as you might think. He’s a complex character of whom people can really get to know, whether through the books or the films. He’s intelligent and courageous and, in some ways, ahead of his time. I think that’s what makes him so attractive. He doesn’t follow the crowd and he doesn’t let prejudice stand in the way of understanding.”

Tom Hardy

The actor Tom Hardy has been interested in Harry Potter since at least 2012, when he made his debut in the role of Harry Potter himself, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2. Since then, Hardy has been interviewed by Whitehall about the series, often sharing his fandom with Whitehall and letting the journalist’s opinions shape his own opinions about the novels and films.

While we can’t speak for Hardy’s own opinions, it’s clear that he values his friend’s take on Harry Potter, especially since Hardy often relies on astute observations and keen analysis to inform and shape his performance as Hardy’s character, Rick Deckard, in the 2014 film, The Haunting of Hill House. Here is what Rick Deckard had to say about Harry Potter:

“Deckingard: I’ve never liked these wizard movies. I find them degrading to women. And to be honest, most of the time, the wizards aren’t that great—they’re mostly just comic relief. Take away their magic and what are they? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wizard do anything brave or exciting. Most of the time, they just shout ‘Omgoodness!’ and run away when things get tough. And how can you blame them? These films usually feature sloppy writing, bad accents, and too many laughs. And what’s with all these Hogwarts schools? Is this some kind of a joke?”

Johnny Depp

The actor Johnny Depp has probably always been one of the most popular interview subjects in the world, with more than 500 published interviews to his name. He has also been interviewed by Whitehall about a variety of topics, including film, music, and even Harry Potter. Depp is such a big fan of the series that he named his Pirate of Penance character after one of the protagonists, Delancey Crookshanks.

Here is what Depp had to say about Harry Potter:

“It’ll never not be cool to have a part in a Harry Potter movie. People in my generation idolize the series. To this day, I get recognized by fans and strangers alike whenever I’m out with my family. I have a lot of respect for the books and the scope of what the creator, J.K. Rowling, was able to do. The stories are full of wisdom and it’s easy to see the influence that her books had on my life. I’ll never forget the first time that I read them. It was the summer between my junior and senior year of high school and I was completely mesmerized. I read them in one sitting and then, a few days later, borrowed my dad’s old copy and read them again. They’re still one of my favorite series and, personally, I’d love to see the world of Harry Potter come to life through a film or TV show. It’s more than likely that I’ll get that chance. Until then, I’ll just have to be satisfied being a part of the magic.”

Logan Marshall-Green

The actor Logan Marshall-Green plays a supporting role in the 2017 film, Wonder, as a struggling writer who befriends a young girl with extraordinary abilities. While not a lot of people may know about the film, or the role that Marshall-Green plays in it, he is a big Harry Potter fan and has been since before he even made it in the industry. Here is what Marshall-Green had to say about Harry Potter:

“I grew up on Harry Potter books. My dad was a big fan, too. He would read them to me and my sister whenever we got bored of our own games. I loved everything about the series and tried to emulate J.K. Rowling’s writing style as much as I could. The movie Wonder was a great opportunity, but it’s also made me realize how much I still want to contribute to the series. I would love to see what other authors could do with the characters and settings that Rowling created. I think that Harry Potter has a lot of potential and, after this role, I have no doubt that I’ll be back for more.”
