The last Harry Potter film was undoubtedly one of the biggest movies of the year. Not only was it the final word on the beloved books, but it featured several A-list actors and cameos from some of pop culture’s biggest stars. Yet, despite its popularity, many fans were left wanting more. Fortunately, J.K. Rowling has agreed to continue the Harry Potter adventures in an upcoming comic book series titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which will feature characters and scenes from the blockbuster film alongside brand new content.

While details have yet to be revealed, fans of the best-selling series have been speculating about which characters from the film might show up in the series. One of the most prominent characters is none other than Lord Voldemort himself. Could this be the final showdown between good and evil? Let’s take a look at the evidence and figure out who might face off against the iconic villain in a future storyline.

Lord Voldemort’s Revenge

Let’s start with the obvious: Voldemort is the main antagonist of the Harry Potter series. Fans of the films know exactly what they’re getting into when they dive into one of the most memorable scenes in franchise history. In an epic battle, Harry Potter faces Lord Voldemort and defeats him with the help of Dumbledore and numerous allies. As a result, Voldemort suffers a debilitating emotional breakdown and flees the castle in shame, never to be seen or heard from again.

In the aftermath of the battle, Harry and Dumbledore meet to discuss what happened. Harry reveals that he saw Voldemort’s true nature the moment he laid eyes on the Dark Lord. While Harry was confident that he could defeat Voldemort once he became aware of his true intentions, Dumbledore notes that the experience has changed him. Harry agrees, stating that he will never be the same again.

Which Harry Potter Character Is Robert Pattinson?

Voldemort is, by definition, a villain. He’s responsible for the death of Harry’s parents and dozens of others. He returns in the series’ finale to finish the job, but is stopped by Harry Potter and the Hallows. Nonetheless, this was only a temporary stay of execution. The Dark Lord will return and threaten the foundations of wizarding society once again. The question is: Will Harry face off against Voldemort? And if so, who will join forces with him to take on the evil ruler?

The most logical candidate is Draco Malfoy. Although he doesn’t appear in the film, fans have been speculating about a possible romance between Harry and Draco since the beginning of the series. After all, it was established early on that Harry and Draco share a similarly troublesome history. The two were even cast together in one play during their school days. If the two ever did team up to take on Lord Voldemort, it would be nothing short of a miracle.

Another character that fans have long desired to see join forces with Harry is Professor Quirrell. It was previously established that Quirrell possessed a secret vault containing information vital to Harry’s quest. Without it, the boy-wonder wouldn’t have been able to defeat Voldemort and rescue his friends. In the film, it’s revealed that as part of his punishment, the Dark Lord placed a curse on Quirrell. Not only will he have to live with the knowledge of his wife’s infidelity forever, but he’ll have to spend eternity watching over his prize pupil. Knowing Voldemort, he probably picked out the punishment and designed the task himself.

Dumbledore’s Army

Fellow wizard Harry Potter couldn’t have escaped Voldemort’s rampage without help. Luckily, he was accompanied by multiple loyal friends who stood against the Dark Lord and protected Harry’s friends and family. These brave individuals formed something of a resistance movement during the height of the wizarding war. They continued to fight against Voldemort even after the Battle of Hogwarts, when it seemed as if the conflict was truly over. In celebration of Voldemort’s defeat, Harry formed a squad of his best friends: the Order of the Phoenix. They continue to work for peace and safety within the wizarding world, organizing the fight against tyranny and corruption. While some of these friends choose to keep their identity a secret, Harry has openly acknowledged the group. They’ve since grown in size and influence, becoming something of a legend themselves.

One of the most prominent members of Dumbledore’s Army is Ginny Weasley. Her father, Bill, was one of Harry’s best friends and allies against Lord Voldemort. After Hogwarts, the former Slytherin decided to dedicate his life to defending his friend and ensuring that Voldemort couldn’t threaten any more innocent lives. Ginny is the spitting image of her mother, whom Harry loved and respected dearly. As a result, the usually reserved girl became a vocal champion for Harry and all things magical. Her father even credits her with keeping him alive during one of the most trying periods of his life. Ginny has remained dedicated to Harry ever since, acting as a faithful assistant and friend in all his endeavors. She is currently head of the Order of the Phoenix.

A Family Reunion

The most recent Harry Potter movie was, in fact, a reunion of sorts for the Potter family. After years apart, the four Hogwarts founders are back together and living quiet, peaceful lives. Harry himself even brought along his two children, Albus and Lily. The boy-wonder and his wife have since become responsible family men and wonderful fathers. Though the movies are set in the future, the charm of the series still lies in its ability to connect with audiences across the globe. This is largely thanks to J.K. Rowling, who continues to write books and engage with readers across the ocean. While the future of the Harry Potter franchise is uncertain, one thing is for certain: The series will live on for… well… forever.
