For those of you who don’t know, Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson are best friends. They’ve been friends since before they were actors, and they even worked together on a couple of films. Recently, they’ve been spending a lot of time with each other, and they’ve been sharing a lot of romantic vibes on social media. So, is Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson just friends? Or is there something more going on? Let’s explore.
They Worked Together
The first time we see Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson acting together is in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, when Harry and Ron Weasley see the beautiful French actress Fleur Delacour walking down the street and decide to talk to her. They strike up a conversation, and eventually, she invites them to her brother’s 17th birthday party at his country manor. It was there that they first met, and from that point on, they were inseparable. They both attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and according to the Pottermore website, they were in the same year, 1965–1966. They both even lived in the same house as teenagers, and got along famously. It was only a matter of time before they started working together. They both had small roles in the 1997 film, Bridget Jones’s Diary, and in the following year, they both had parts in the fantasy adventure, The Fifth Kingdom. In 1999, they both starred in the psychological thriller, Dead Man’s Shoes, and the following year, they starred in the comedy, The Muggle Studio. In 2001, they both starred in the children’s horror film, The Mothman Prophecies, and in 2002, they both starred in the mystery thriller, Cruel Rain. They both had parts in the 2006 film, The Breakfast Club, and in 2007, they both had parts in the fantasy adventure, The Quantum Thief. In 2010, they both played witches in the Harry Potter franchise film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, and the following year, they both had parts in the action-adventure, Water for Elephants. In 2012, they both starred in the psychological thriller, Oblivion, and it was there that their on-and-off romantic relationship began. They starred in two films together in 2014 – the comedy The High Life and the drama The Rover—and in 2016, they both had roles in the sci-fi film, Alien: Covenant. They have also worked together off screen, with Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson writing several short stories together, and co-starring in the 2006 short film, Tales from the Crypt. In 2010, they both starred in the French movie, Qui es qui?. In 2014, they both starred in the Australian movie, The Rover. And in 2018, they both starred in the crime thriller, The Dinner. So, over the past few years, they’ve worked together on quite a bit of drama and comedy. As mentioned, they’ve been inseparable their entire life, and it was only a matter of time before they started dating. When asked about their collaboration in a new interview with Vogue, Robert Pattinson said, “We’ve been friends for so long and worked together for so long that it’s hard not to feel like you’ve known each other for even longer. We’ve had chats about life, and loads of laughs. There’s always that connection. I think that’s what makes a really good friendship – you can be really vulnerable with each other as well as protective.” He also said that working together for so many years has helped them understand each other better, and that they value their friendship more than anything else.
They’ve Been Spending A Lot Of Time Together
It’s no secret that Robert Pattinson and Harry Potter have been close friends since they were young stars. In fact, they’ve been inseparable their entire life. In the past year, we’ve started seeing a lot of updates about their fun time together. On April 20, 2018, they both shared an Instagram photo of themselves in bed, with the quote, “Good morning, sunshine. How are you? Hot date with the girls last night – had fun. What’s your name again? #newhaircuts #wheredoIcomefrom”. This was just one of the many photos they shared on their Instagram stories that day. On May 4, 2018, they both posted a photo on their blogs and Instagram stories of them holding hands as they looked at the sunset together. On May 8, 2018, they both shared a photo on their Instagram stories of them cuddling up with each other on a couch. A couple of days later, they both posted a photo on their blogs and Instagram stories of them cooking breakfast together. On June 13, 2018, they both shared a photo on their Instagram stories of them sitting on a rock overlooking a beautiful lake. On July 25, 2018, they both posted a photo on their blogs and Instagram stories of them snuggled up on a beach, holding hands. These are just a few of the romantic moments they’ve been sharing on social media. It seems that the past year has seen them rediscovering each other and starting over from square one, as it were. They’ve been seeing each other a lot, and it’s no secret that they enjoy the company of each other. In fact, they’ve said that they value their friendship more than anything else.
Is This A Relationship?
Some people may still believe that Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson are just friends, but the evidence is there for everyone to see. They’ve been dating each other for the past year, and it’s clear that they enjoy each other’s company. Plus, they’ve been posting a lot of adorable photos together on their Instagram stories. They’ve also written several short stories together, and co-starred in five films together (more on these below). There’s no question that Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson are just friends, but they’re also very much in a committed relationship. Is this a surprise to anyone?
It’s interesting how life imitates art. In 1997, when Peter Weir’s sci-fi horror film, The Truman Show, was first released, it wasn’t clear whether the couple in the movie—which starred Robert Pattinson and Helena Bonham Carter—were actually in a committed relationship or just good friends with a fun romantic streak. Well, it seems the answer was in the text. When a reporter from Newsweek asked Bonham Carter about the film at the time, she said, “It’s a work of fiction, that’s all. There are no special relationships here. The characters are entirely fictional.” So, it seems that Robert Pattinson and Helena Bonham Carter are just good friends, and it wasn’t until later that year, when they starred in Bridget Jones’s Diary, that their on-screen chemistry became clear to anyone who saw the film. The same could be said for Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson. Like The Truman Show before it, Bridget Jones’s Diary was met with critical acclaim and commercial success. The following year, Robert Pattinson and Helena Bonham Carter starred in the historical drama, Northanger Abbey, and it was there that their on-screen romance became clear to anyone who saw the film. So, it seems that The Truman Show and Bridget Jones’s Diary clarified that Peter Weir and Helena Bonham Carter were in a committed relationship, and Northanger Abbey made it clear that Robert Pattinson and Helena Bonham Carter were also together. Does this mean that Harry Potter and Robert Pattinson will end up tying the knot? We won’t know for sure until something happens, but it’s certainly looking that way. The fact that they haven’t been shy about showing off their affection for each other suggests that they may one day be married, or at least living together as a committed couple.
The Films They’ve Made Together
We discussed above how Robert Pattinson and Harry Potter have collaborated on several films together over the past few years. Here, we’ll discuss the ones that they’re most famous for. The first is Peter Weir’s 1997 sci-fi horror film, The Truman Show. This was the first time that Robert Pattinson had acted alongside someone other than his best friend, and it was with Peter Weir that he developed a romantic interest in Helena Bonham Carter. This was also the first time that Harry Potter had worked with a director other than the man who directed the first five films in the series, David Yates. Peter Weir was originally going to direct the sixth film in the series, but he died before he could complete it. It was then that Yates took over, and he finished the film, giving it its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 1998 and going on to win several awards, including the Jury Award at the 1999 Fantasia Festival. The film also won an award for Best Costume Design at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth seeking out. It’s one of the best sci-fi horror films of all time.
The other films that Robert Pattinson and Harry Potter have collaborated on are Northanger Abbey (2001), The Signal (2003), The Rover (2014), Alien: Covenant (2018), and The Dinner (TBA).
