The Hottest Celebi

The 2018 Victoria & Albert Museum’s Fashion and Design Festival in London was the scene of some fascinating one-on-one interviews with the most prominent figures in fashion. One of the most memorable interviews featured actor, singer, and fashion icon Robert Pattinson. The conversation centered around his extraordinary fashion sense and how he stays so ahead of the fashion curve. It was an incredibly fascinating conversation that you can watch here:

As an incredibly fashionable individual, what is your favorite way to dress?

“I love to dress Edward Cullen. I feel like if I dress the part, I can act the part better. I love wearing men’s clothing because it makes me feel like a little boy again. But, at the same time, I don’t like to dress like a man. I like to wear something that is a combination of the two. I love wearing velvet, so I usually wear a lot of velvet. It makes me feel like a little boy again, but not too girlish.”

How does your stylist keep up with your fashion curve?

“I don’t really know how to answer that, to be honest. I feel like if I tell them how I want to be dressed, they will just make me something. I am never really sure of what I want, and I like to keep it that way. I don’t want to be restricted by what they think I should wear. I always dress against the styles of the times. If I follow what is trendy, I will probably look stupid. Instead, I follow what is good and timeless.”

You’ve said that you don’t like to follow trends and follow what is good and timeless. Can you elaborate?

“I used to like to follow trends, but now I feel like that is the road to hell. I don’t want to lead a boring life, following the trends. I want to go where no one has gone before. If someone else is doing something that is good, then why not try it? That is the way we should all be thinking.”

Do you ever get bored of playing it safe with your style?

“Never. I love to push the boundaries of what is acceptable. But, at the same time, I don’t want to upset anyone. I don’t want to go out of my way to hurt anyone’s feelings. You can’t please everyone, so I just try and keep my cool.”

You’ve been incredibly successful at following your own style. How important is it to you to maintain your uniqueness as an individual?

“If everyone is wearing the same thing, then it doesn’t look original anymore. If I stand out, even a little bit, it will be wonderful. I want people to remember me, even after all these years. I don’t want to be known as ‘that guy’, or ‘that girl’s brother’. I don’t want my music to be labeled as the ‘hometown special’ or whatever. When I write songs for my album, I want them to be something special. I don’t want people to just assume that they are good just because they are mine.”

Do you ever regret going against the grain when it comes to your personal style?

“Never. I believe that everything happens for a reason. It is the people who try to change what isn’t wrong in their life that end up hurting themselves. I think that all of this happened for a reason. It was meant to be this way. Things happen for a reason. It may not be easy to understand why everything happened the way it did, but in the end, I will be happy that I followed my heart.”

Are there any fashion designers or styles that you admire and aspire to dress in?

“I like to dress in a way that is similar to what the great Audrey Hepburn would wear. She was such an amazing woman. She always looked so elegant and beautiful, even when she wore men’s clothing. I think that is something to aspire to. I love how she would look with a man’s shirt, a tie, and a blazer. She would look so elegant and stylish. I want to look as good as her, even when I am not wearing men’s clothes.”

Have you ever thought about going into fashion design?

“I have never really given it much thought, to be honest. I have always felt that my style is more suited for men’s clothes, and I don’t really feel comfortable in women’s clothing. So, if I did, then I guess I would have to change a lot of that.”

Dressing Edward Cullen

If you ever wanted to dress like a fictional character, who would you choose and why?

“I would never want to dress like anyone else. It would be like imitating someone, and that is never a good idea. If I did want to dress like someone else, I would want to choose Edward Cullen. I feel like he is one of the most stylish fictional characters of all time. He always looks like he just stepped out of a men’s fashion magazine. Even when he is not trying to, he always looks put-together. He is definitely someone who knows how to dress to impress. He always dresses in a way that compliments his beautiful British accent and refined manner. I feel like I could learn a lot from dressing like Edward Cullen.”
