After months of speculation, it’s been officially confirmed that Robert Pattinson will be releasing a new album this year. The album will be Pattinson‘s first full-length solo album since joining the Kiss band in 2007, and it will be out on March 2, 2012. This will be the follow-up to Pattinson‘s critically acclaimed album, Wish You Were Here. The new album will be called Songs for Slim, and it will feature eleven new songs. A few days ago, iTunes premiered Songs for Slim along with the album’s first single, ‘One More Night’. You can listen to that song here.

The album was recorded in Nashville at the legendary RCA Studios, which has also been the recording home of Carrie Bergmann and The Rolling Stones. The album’s production was overseen by legendary record producer Carl Falk, who has worked with Stones and Bergmann among others. The songs were written by one of Falk’s proteges, Michael Williams, who has previously co-written songs with Pink and Stones frontman Jagger.

The news has already received a ton of coverage on the internet and in major newspapers, and it’s being touted as the next big thing. Many Vogue and Elle magazines have even declared March 2nd to be ‘Robert Pattinson Day‘. Stay tuned for more info on this exciting new album.
