The news broke this week that actor Robert Pattinson had proposed to long-time partner, FKA Twigs. The couple had exchanged vows during an intimate winter wedding in Milan in early 2019, according to Us Weekly. The British actor, who rose to fame for his role in the Divergent series, began dating the rapper, singer, and songwriter in 2017. The two have been inseparable ever since. They even made headlines earlier this year when Twigs revealed she was pregnant with Pattinson’s child.
The pair’s first public appearance together was at the BRITs 2019 awards in London back in January. They were honored with the Outstanding British Contribution to World Culture award for their artistic and entrepreneurial achievements.
Now, Pattinson is focusing on taking care of his newlywed wife as she works through her pregnancy. The couple’s rep confirmed to People that the actor “is very much involved with her throughout her pregnancy and is looking after her and the baby with lots of love and attention.”
Here are some of Pattinson’s best lines from his extensive interview with People after being named as one of Britain’s most eligible bachelors. The interview also covered his relationship with Twigs.
On His Newfound Purpose In Life:
“In many ways, the past year has been quite a catharsis. I’ve spent most of my time travelling, shooting, and working on new music, which has given me a new found purpose in life. At the same time, I’ve been able to put things into perspective, realize how much I have to live for, and feel a desire to give back to the community that’s supported me for all these years.”
On Settling Down:
“I’ve always envisioned myself as spending my time working, travelling, and being with friends and family. Now that I’m close to having a family, I feel an urge to be more stable. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to continue exploring the world, but I’d like to find a way to contribute to a better life for myself and those around me.”
On His Upcoming Solo Album:
“I’ve been working really hard on my solo album. I’ve had a lot of help from some great producers and songwriters. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to show some of the songs to my idols and get their opinions and feedback. Now that it’s nearly complete, I feel a sense of pride and an urge to reveal it to the world.”
On Loving Italy:
“I’ve always wanted to spend my time working as an actor in Italy, so when the opportunity came to make my first Italian movie, I jumped at the chance.”
“I fell in love with the rolling hills and the unique culture. The food is fantastic and I’ve been able to make some amazing friends. It’s been the perfect mix of work and play. It’s been a real adventure and I can’t wait to do it all over again.”
On Facing Camera On Set:
“I’ve always felt very comfortable in front of the camera, even when I was a kid. It was never a worry for me. When it came time to do the MTV Movie Award scene from the Divergent series, I was a little nervous, but managed to stay in character throughout the entire shoot. It was such an exhilarating feeling to look into the camera and see your own reflection. For a second, I felt like a total stranger. But it was also really strange to feel like a total stranger and feel so comfortable around the people you’re working with.”
On Finding Success In The Film Industry:
“I’ve always believed that hard work leads to success. When I was a kid, my dad always told me, ‘No matter what, never give up on your dream. If you do, you’ll never know how much potential you’ve wasted.’ It was the best piece of advice I ever heard, and it served as a guide for the rest of my life. Now that I’m starting to see some of my old dreams come true, it’s worth fighting for. Every time I put in the hard work, I know that I’m going to achieve something great.”
“Making movies can be a great way to explore new places and meet new people, but it can also be incredibly demanding. In the last year alone, I’ve worked on five movies, been on set for more than 20 days, and traveled more than 20,000 miles. It’s been a lot of hard work, but it’s also been a real adventure. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
On Believing In Yourself:
“I believe in myself. Even when I was a kid, I always looked at the people around me and saw something I didn’t have. Now that I’m older, I realize that what I lacked as a child, was just confidence. I never doubted myself for a second, and that’s why I was able to achieve so much as an actor. Now that I’m older, I realize that I should have been doubting myself all along. It’s okay to have doubts, it’s just important to have them about the right things. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own heads that we forget that there’s a whole world out there. I want to be able to help others see the light, and believe that they can achieve anything they set their mind to.”
On Being Inspired By Great Leaders:
“I try to be inspired by great leaders from different cultures and walks of life. Whether it’s Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, or Aristotle, I try to learn from their example. Leaders can sometimes inspire the people they lead. It’s an interesting phenomenon that I’ve always found fascinating.”
“I think about the past year a lot. It was a huge journey, both personally and professionally, and I’m proud of all that we were able to accomplish. We gave it our all and we showed the world my music, our films, and myself. Now that the dust has settled, I feel relieved and happy. 2019 was a hell of a year, but it was also a year of growth and changes that I look forward to embracing in the years to come.”
