It’s been a crazy few months for Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson fans. First, the 26-year-old actress opened up about her pregnancy with her director boyfriend in June 2016 and revealed she’s actually eight months ahead of her due date. Then, last summer, she gave birth to their son, Bingham. Finally, in October, the couple welcomed their daughter, Luna. It’s been a while since we’ve seen and heard from the Twilight star and her famous gal pals, so it was quite the celebrity baby shower.
While the couple has kept busy appearing in films such as the upcoming crime drama Cut River as well as promoting their individual projects, they’ve also been open about their parenting styles and discussed the changes that motherhood has instigated. The actress even penned a candid and heart-warming maternal letter to her fans.
“After so long, this is still such a surreal experience to type or even think about. I feel so blessed and happy to have this family, and I’m so grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown us over the years,” she wrote. “I know this is an especially exciting time for us, and I can’t wait to share these wonderful events with you all.”
The Making Of A Modern Family
While Twilight may be over, it’s certainly not forgotten. In fact, the actor has been consistently busy since the conclusion of the series in 2013, filming a variety of projects including crime thrillers and romantic comedies. Most recently, he wrapped production on Cut River, the latest installment in the Mr. and Mrs. Smith franchise. It also marks the actor’s directorial debut.
The duo’s new movie is a serious drama about an obsessed FBI agent determined to destroy an intricate social media network of individuals with different specialties using a dangerous ex-boyfriend as a pawn. Naturally, the actor plays a key role in the film alongside Stewart. While a thriller, the movie is actually quite romantic, and hints at the couples’ future together might not be as fantastical as it seems.
“The first week of shooting was very intense. We worked long hours, had little to no down time, and were always on our toes,” Stewart said in a statement. “While this type of schedule can be tiring, I wouldn’t change it for the world. It definitely made us better parents and better partners.”
The Procreation Vibes
While the couple has been open about their pregnancies, they’ve mostly remained tight-lipped about the possibility of having more children. That is, until now. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight in October, Stewart hinted that she and Pattinson might be considering expanding their family.
“I think it’s a possibility. Especially since we’re living such a comfortable life. Having kids doesn’t seem so daunting anymore,” she said. “I feel very lucky to have had this experience, and I wouldn’t rule anything out. Especially since motherhood is such a rewarding and humbling experience.”
The Early Days Of Parental Rearing
With the exception of Bella and Edward’s newborn daughter, Renesmee, Stewart and Pattinson didn’t have much experience with babies when they became parents. The pair mostly raised Bella as a single parent for four years before expanding their family with Bingham, their first son and the result of a yearlong romance. With Bingham’s arrival, Stewart said she and Pattinson “jumped right in” and began a “new and exciting chapter” in their lives.
“We were both so incredibly excited. The night before he was born, we were at the hospital and watched the birth video together. It was such an indescribable feeling to finally see his silhouette against the screen as he was illuminated by the blue neon lights. We were both in awe of this little person growing inside of us,” she said. “Parenting is a role you never really get used to, but it’s such an incredible adventure. My advice is to just jump in and take the ride. Don’t worry about what you’re not supposed to do or how you’re supposed to do it. Just do what comes naturally, and love your children endlessly.”
The Changes Motherhood Has Made
Stewart and Pattinson’s children have certainly changed their parents’ lives. The first glimpse of an eight-month-old Luna was enough to confirm that Stewart had indeed changed. While she still possesses the cheeky smile and twinkling eyes that have always characterized her onscreen persona, offscreen she has developed a steely determination that suggests she’ll be a force to be reckoned with as a new generation of female leaders.
The early years of motherhood hasn’t been all serious, either. The couple has shared many playful images of their children on social media, as well as videos of them dancing and laughing together. They’ve also shown an interest in natural parenting and regularly cite breastfeeding as a source of pride for both of them. In the wake of the actress’s letter to her fans, we’ll likely see even more content from Stewart and Pattinson in the future.
