It’s been a rough patch for Robert Pattinson fans. Following the breakup of his engagement to FKA Twigs last spring, the Exotic Marmoset movie director has been keeping pretty busy. First, there was his whirlwind romance with French model and musician Florence Welch (daughter of singer Sir Bob Welch), which came to an end in September. Then, he dated British fashion designer Kate Young for a couple of months, before taking a longer break from the game.

But since April 2019, we have only seen Pattinson around social media platforms, mostly Instagram. Wherever he goes, there are usually celebrities in his orbit. This is probably because of the fact that he has a movie coming out this summer, The Soultaker, based on Alice Oswald’s young adult novel of the same name.

Robert Pattinson & Twigs

Pattinson had long been in a relationship with British singer and songwriter FKA Twigs, which began in 2012, when he cast her in his upcoming movie, The Lost City. Since then, they have been inseparable, rarely leaving each other’s side. It was only a matter of time before the world found out.

Following the breakup of their engagement in March 2019, Twigs took to Instagram to confirm the split. “I love you so much,” she wrote on the platform. “There is nothing more to say. I hope you are doing well and that we continue to stay strong.” She also thanked the “many people who have supported us through this difficult time.” It looks like Pattinson’s days of being single are over.

‘The Soultaker’

Pattinson is set to star in the adaptation of Alice Oswald’s novel, The Soultaker, alongside Hollywood superstitions Taylor Momsen and Michael Sheen. Directed by Jessica Chiang, this historical fantasy film is set in post-war Paris, where a Chinese American girl (Momsen) falls in love with an Englishman (Sheen) while chasing her dream of becoming a ballerina.

Oswald’s novel was first published in 1972, and the movie is due for release on May 10, 2020. In a statement to press, Entertainment One, the distributor of the film, described it as a “fantastic story” that will make audiences laugh and cry.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the British actor is “immensely” excited about the project, which reunites him with Chiang, who he worked with on 2014’s hit movie, The Great Gatsby. “I remember when [Chiang] called me to say that she had written a script and wanted me to read it,” he said in the report. “I couldn’t put it down. There’s just something about historical fiction that really resonates with me. Plus, I’ve always wanted to work with Michael Sheen. It was the perfect storm.”

Pattinson’s next movie, The Soultaker, will be released in theaters on May 10, 2020. It marks his first lead role in a movie in three years, since the 2013 comedy, What do you want me to do? He is also set to star in the upcoming Netflix science fiction flick, The Neurons.
