While we were anxiously waiting for the new James Bond film to drop last Christmas we were treated to a very special trailer. Robert Pattinson plays an American inventor and entrepreneur named Ben Whitley. As the film opens, Whitley is seen rushing to an airfield to meet a famous ballerina (Kristin Scott Thomas). Whitley has invented a car which can fly and he wants to prove it to the world. The film then turns into a car chase with many exotic locations, amazing stunts and beautiful women. At the end of the trailer, Bond quips that Whitley’s invention is “probably the greatest gadget ever made”. The ballerina then gives Bond a wink and a smile as the closing credits roll. The trailer was definitely a tease but was filled with enough action and drama to make it worth the wait.
A Major Success
The Good Time turned out to be one of the best films of 2018 so far and has been a major success at the box office. The film took in $70 million in the US alone and is now playing in theatres around the world. It is the first Bond film to be made in India, where it was partially filmed. This was an expensive production and it seems like it was all worth it. The Good Time will be followed by two more Bond films, The Eichmann Trial and No Time To Die.
An All-New Cast
This year’s Oscar nominees also gave us some pretty amazing performances. In The Best of Enemies, Diane Lane and Kate Winslet both give incredible and moving performances as political rivals who get along better than they should. One of the best scenes has to be when they sing “Happy Birthday” to Ronald Reagan on his 86th birthday. The movie also features an incredible soundtrack which you will want to buy on CD or vinyl if you haven’t already.
A Change Of Pace
While we were anticipating the return of Fleming’s beloved Bond we were also anticipating something different. And what better way to welcome back Bond than with a family friendly film? The Good Time switches gears completely from an action-packed trailer to a more comedic feel. But don’t worry—Bond’s sense of adventure and romance never waivers.
The Good Time marks the fourth collaboration between director Jon Favreau and actor Robert Pattinson. Together, they made the hugely successful movie Trainwreck and then went on to helm the wildly entertaining The Exorcist, which became one of the best-reviewed horror films of all time. The Good Time also stars a host of Hollywood A-listers including John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe, and Alicia Vikander. It’s no wonder why The Good Time has become such a success—it features an all-star cast led by one of Hollywood’s most charismatic actors. This is definitely a movie to watch, especially if you’re a fan of Robert Pattinson.
