While we were all eagerly awaiting the new James Bond film, SPECTRE, to hit theaters, we were also treated to another film premiere: the highly anticipated sequel to The Great Gatsby, entitled TGGG2. The film’s star-studded premiere was just one of the many major events that came out this year. Another big Hollywood premiere was the premiere of Disney’s live musical, AVATAR, which starred Emily Blunt and James Earl Jones.

One of the many highlights of the 2016 film year was the pairing of acclaimed British actress Elizabeth Debicki with Hollywood superstar Robert Pattinson in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s highly anticipated new book, THE HARDY BOOK OF HOURS.

In the book, HARDY—short for Hardworking, Aimless, Reclusive, and Yea-saying—is a nickname for James Bond, the secret agent who has gone rogue in a story told from the point of view of the thugs and criminals he meets while working. The titular character is obsessed with work, obsessed with getting each and every job done right, and he often finds himself in situations where he has to choose between saving someone and keeping his job as an agent. The book was originally published as a trilogy in 2010.

Debicki, who hails from Poland and began her acting career in London, is familiar to film fans as Mina Maxwell, the kick-ass Viking warrior who faces off against Tom Hardy’s character in the film, INGLAS VIGIL.

Pattinson, who was born in England and started his acting career in London, is best known for portraying the irreverently charming and complicated vampire, ROBERT PATTERSON, in the popular television series, THE DESERT PIRATES.

Their pairing in the adaptation was not completely unexpected. The two have been friends for a while, and they even went on a date to an Italian restaurant after an advance viewing of the film. Their chemistry is electric, and it’s clear that they have a strong connection on-screen.

The film adaptation of THE HARDY BOOK OF HOURS premiered at the 2016 Toronto Film Festival and was released in theaters on October 20. SPECTRE and AVATAR are currently the two highest-grossing films of all time, having each earned over $1 billion at the box office.
