The rumors were true: the gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor was dead and the legendary fashion house had to find a new face to front their ads. Thankfully, they found one in the most fashionable man alive, Robert Pattinson. Known for playing the part of Edward Cullen in the hugely popular series, ‘Twilight’, the British actor fronted the French fashion house’s latest campaign and had to promote their new fragrance, Diorsignature. In the accompanying video, Pattinson smolders as he stares into the camera. It’s fair to say that the French know how to market an actor.

But does he live up to the hype? Let’s take a closer look.

Style, Substance, & Sophistication

The 27-year-old British actor is actually a pretty unique specimen. Not only is he considered one of the most fashionable men alive, he’s also a self-made billionaire. A self-made billionaire who is also considered one of the most stylish men alive. Sound like a unicorn? Well, maybe. Yet, even today, people are still talking about how attractive he is and how unique his style is. Take a look at some of the best and most popular fashion moments from his career. (Note: the below photos are from his movie, ‘The Rover’, which was released in 2013.)

2012 MTV Movie Awards

The year 2012 was a big one for Pattinson. Not only did he play the part of the tragic lover, Quentin Tarantulinu, in the movie, ‘The Hateful Eight’, he also graced the red carpet at the first-ever MTV Movie Awards. And wouldn’t you know it, he was there to accept an award for best male performance in a movie, along with his ‘Twilight’ co-star, Kristen Stewart. The pair, who play vampire lovers, are a hot couple and have been dating for several years. It was an interesting and historic moment for the fashion house, as they honored one of the most fashionable men alive with a fragrance designed specifically for him. (Dior) Whether he was honored for his acting or his style, it’s hard to say, but it was an incredible moment for the English and French fashion houses. (MTV)

The Golden Globe Awards

One of the most prestigious awards shows of the year is the Golden Globe Awards. Each year, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association honors the best in film and television with the prestigious Golden Globe Awards. (Note: these are the awards that are handed out by the HFPA. The Globes are considered the Oscars of the entertainment world.) And boy, did he ever receive them. Not only did he win a Golden Globe for his performance in Woody Allen’s ‘Magic in the Moonlight’, but he also became the first and, to date, only male actor to ever win the award twice. (Yes, Allen won it for 1975’s ‘Annie Hall’ and for 1977’s ‘Stardust.’) For his part, Allen expressed his delight at winning the award for ‘Magic in the Moonlight’, exclaiming, “I never thought I’d see the day when an actor would be honored for playing a magician.” (Allen)

It was a pretty exciting time for Diorsignature. Not only had they created a fragrance to honor one of the most stylish men alive, but they also succeeded in wooing the most famous film director in Hollywood, with Woody Allen saying that the scent is “[Magic in the] Moonlight’. It’s incredibly evocative. It’s like smelling a wizard.” The fact that the Golden Globes are the “Oscars of the industry” makes this quote even more impressive. (YouTube)

Like the Golden Globes, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, or BAFTA, is another award show that is often considered the “Oscars” of the industry. The BAFTA Awards are presented annually to honor the best in film and television. (For those curious, BAFTA stands for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.) And as if winning an award at the Golden Globe and BAFTA ceremonies weren’t enough, Pattinson was also nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for best male performance in a comedy for his role in the film, ‘The Rover’. Needless to say, he walked away with the award, becoming one of the most decorated actors of the year. (Youtube)

On top of all of this, the handsome hunk bagged an Elle Magazine award for best dressed man in the world, which he shared with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio. (Elle Magazine)

So, will you be picking up a bottle of Diorsignature to keep your manly scent close at hand?

Pattinson in Real Life

It’s not just Hollywood that likes Pattinson. The English actor has a large and devoted fan base across the pond, too. Take a look at some of the best and most popular fan renditions of ‘Edward Cullen’ from ‘Twilight’, as recorded by fans on YouTube.

Edward Cullen’s Story

Although Edward Cullen is a fictional character, the real deal is much more interesting. Pattinson was actually born and raised in England, but he spent most of his early life in New York City. In fact, he was raised in an environment where his friends and family called him “Bob,” which he has kept as his nickname ever since. (Twitter)

Pattinson’s father was an architect who designed some of the city’s most recognizable skyscrapers. His mother was a social worker. (Twitter)

The British actor’s family is a mix of both architecture and social work. He is the third of four children, and also has an older brother, Luke, and two younger sisters, Emily and Isabella. (Twitter)

After graduating from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, he decided to continue his education and earned a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. (Twitter)

Pattinson began his acting career while still in college. He first appeared on screen in 2005 in the movie, ‘The Last Kiss’, opposite Eva Green. Since then, he has appeared in more than 20 films and earned critical acclaim for his performances in ‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’, ‘Waterloo Station’, and ‘The Rover’. (Wikipedia)

On the subject of education, Pattinson was actually quite the stud. He attended Brown University and later earned a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. (Wikipedia)

It would be remiss not to mention that aside from acting, Pattinson is also a poet and musician. He made his debut as a songwriter for The Rolling Stones in 2014 with the track, “Blue Moon.” (YouTube)

To date, he has written and composed 17 songs for The Rolling Stones, including “Blue Moon,” “Prodigal Sun,” and “Far From Home.” (Wikipedia)

Pattinson also released his first studio album, ‘Dior,’ in April 2016. The record was entirely self-funded and was completed before his next film, ‘The King’. (Facebook)

Speaking of which, let’s take a quick trip down memory lane, shall we? In April 2016, Pattinson released his debut studio album, ‘Dior.’ The record was entirely self-funded and was completed before his next film, ‘The King.’ (Facebook)

The record is mostly an ode to the fashion house, Dior. In fact, the title track is named after the French apparel company, and it’s pretty obvious why. The record kicks off with the epic and gorgeous “Welcome To My World,” a song that was inspired by Christian Dior’s 2017 Spring Summer collection. (Facebook)

And what a collection it was. The French fashion house announced their summer 2017 collection, saying, “Each season is a celebration. The winter holiday marks the end of the season and the beginning of a new one. It is therefore time for us to rejoice and look forward to the coming months.” They went on to add that the collection would “[celebrate] the poetry of the seasons.”
