It’s no secret that Robert Pattinson is one of our planet’s most eligible bachelors. The 25-year-old has been connected to some of Hollywood’s most beautiful and talented women. Not only has he managed to avoid dating scandals, but he’s even inspired a few fashion trends.

While talking to Vogue about his new movie Wuthering Heights, the British actor opened up about the fashion choices he makes and the trends he’s inspired. Most notably, he talked about whether or not he wears contacts and if he ever considered becoming a fashionista.

A Wearable Blanket

The Scottish-born hunk began his fashion career when he was 15. He told the magazine that he “took a bit of a hiatus” from acting to focus on his personal style and to find the perfect suits for the various roles he played. These days, he mostly opts for classic looks that never go out of style.

One of the fashion choices Pattinson made that really struck a chord with fans was the blanket coat he wore in the 2013 movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The fashion style blogosphere went crazy for the actor’s cozy look and flooded the internet with photos of themselves or their loved ones snuggled under Robert Pattinson’s knitted coat. The trend-setter for this viral fashion moment just so happens to be one of our own: Kate Upton.

Kate Upton Is The Reason Behind The Viral Fashion Moment

In case you haven’t heard, Kate Upton is a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and an Olympic gold-medalist. She’s also considered to be one of the greatest female athletes of all time. The 23-year-old originally hails from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and earned a degree in kinesiology (the study of movement) from the University of Michigan. After spending some time abroad, she returned to the United States and joined the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition.

It’s been a while since Upton graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, but she hasn’t stopped showing off her incredible body in the most fashionable of ways. From showing off her legs to experimenting with daring bikini styles, the model always keeps her fans guessing as to how she’ll top herself next. It seems like she’s always one step ahead.

Pattinson’s love for the athletic beauty and her exceptional sense of style made the cover of Sports Illustrated look easy. It wasn’t long before fans started repping the British hunk as a fashion icon. In fact, the hashtag #RobertPattinsonIsOverrated became a thing on Twitter. While some people criticized him for being overrated, others found his style to be under-rated. (Can we use the hashtag #UnderratedFashionIcon now?)

The trend-setting nature of her breakout moment aside, it’s important to remember that Upton is an incredible athlete who happens to be very attractive. It’s not that she’s trying to prove her worth as a fashion icon by being an athlete; it’s more like she’s making the most of what she was born with.

Does He Wear Contacts?

Now, coming back to the topic at hand, we have to ask: Does Robert Pattinson wear contacts?

The Scottish-born hunk is rarely (if ever) photographed wearing contacts, which is probably for the best because his eyes are absolutely stunning as-is. While he can pull off a striking look with his piercing eyes and classic good looks, he would undoubtedly be even more striking, if not outright scary, with perfect vision.

One of the few times we see him wear contacts is in the 2013 movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Director Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted to experiment with his look a bit so he opted to use contacts for a scene involving a fight between vampires and werewolves. (Spoiler alert: the werewolves win.)

We can’t decide if we love him more with or with out his contacts. The truth is, it’s a look that he’s carried over from movie to movie. (Not that we’re complaining – we love how each new role calls for a new fashion choice.)

Would He Consider Fashion And Style?

It’s been nearly 10 years since we’ve seen Pattinson on the big screen, but it’s been even longer since we’ve seen him open up about his personal life. (It’s been so long since we’ve seen Robert Pattinson on the big screen, in fact, that it might be difficult for some people to remember his filmography. We have a feeling that this is one topic that he’ll be opening up more about in the future.)

When asked about his style choices, Pattinson doesn’t miss a beat. He told the magazine:

“I love a monochrome look where you can’t distinguish between the clothing and the background. … I love black clothes and white clothes, and I always combine the two. … It’s really nice when you have a white dress and black leather jacket or skirt and top combo. … I like to keep my wardrobe as minimal as possible so that it stays fresh and new. I don’t like to follow trends, I like to create them.”

While it’s always an incredible option to be able to experiment with your wardrobe, it’s important to remember that trends change. It would be wonderful if we could all keep fashion and style at the forefront, but it’s not always possible. For now, let’s just enjoy this brief moment of peace while we can.
