Bella Swan and Robert Pattinson were both born in April 1989, which makes them 29 years old at the time of writing. They first appeared as a “couple” in the 2013 film adaptation of E. L. James’ 50 Shades of Grey, where they played the part of couplets Scottie and Dakota. Two years later, in January 2015, they were pictured together at the premiere of Pattinson’s upcoming film The Beach Bum. With the public’s continued interest in the Twilight star and his on-screen antics, some have speculated that Robert was secretly dating Bella even before they played on-screen couplets in 50 Shades of Grey. Although there is no concrete evidence to prove that the on-screen star ever had a real-life girlfriend before Bella, the two do share some striking similarities which make it harder to resist the speculation.

Both Actors’ Birthdays Defy Logical Reason

If you’re anything like us, you might be wondering how the same two people could have such contrasting birthdays. After all, Scottie plays by the rules and is a committed bachelor until he meets Dakota. Meanwhile, Robert follows his heart and becomes enmeshed in a passionate romance with Bella even though he’s already been in a long-term relationship with another woman. If you’re confused, then you’re in good company – this scenario is incredibly unusual, to say the least. Let’s run down the differences between the two actors’ personal lives and works, in an effort to provide some clarity:

Birthdays:

Scottie is an only child and was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He moved around a lot as a kid – his family was in the military – so he spent a lot of time in different cities and on different continents. He attended Brown University where he studied political science, earning both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. After graduation, he moved to New York City and worked as a management consultant. He shares a birthday with Leonardo DiCaprio and Chris Evans, and is thus known as The Terminator. He’s always been a faithful husband and has never been seen with another woman on-set or in public, so these latest allegations about Bella are quite surprising.

Bella Swan was born in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley and attended Burbank High School, graduating in 1988. She began modeling at the age of 15 and moved to London after finishing high school. She went on to study at the London School of Economics and Political Science where she majored in economics and international relations. She also did a one-year internship at the European Commission headquarters in Dublin while she was a student. In 2011, she became a naturalized citizen of the UK and continues to live and work there. In March 2018, she became a dual citizen of the United States and Canada. She is 31 years old and shares a birthday with singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and model Gigi Hadid.

Marriages:

If you’ll remember from our previous article, the most shocking thing about Scottie and Bella’s on-screen coupling is that they both ended up together at the end of the movie. It would be one thing if Scottie pursued Bella, but the fact that they ended up on-screen together makes the conspiracy theories about them being a couple more plausible. The couple’s first encounter is rather uneventful – Bella is spotted talking to a man in a bar, and Scottie follows her outside and they begin flirting. It wasn’t until the middle of the following day that the two officially became a couple. Their chemistry is undeniable, and it’s clear that they’ve been connected since at least high school when they appeared in the same play together. As far as we know, they’ve never been married or engaged to be married.

Unlike Scottie, Robert has been married twice. He married his first wife, Corinne, in 2007. They met while Corinne was a student at the University of Oxford and after the ceremony she went on to complete her PhD at New York University. Together, they have a son named Henry and live in a house in Greenwich, Connecticut. In 2016, the couple announced they were separating and later that year, in November 2016, Corinne filed for divorce. In April 2017, it was reported that Robert was in a new relationship with American entrepreneur and vintage collector Margarita Aye. They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Venice, Italy, in June 2019. It was Margarita who encouraged Robert to pursue his romance with Bella despite being married, which ultimately led to their first appearance in the media as a “couple.” He has since been spotted with a rose between them on multiple occasions, suggesting that they are indeed a couple in real life. They’ve also been pictured holding hands and looking blissfully into each other’s eyes. A lot of people are calling this newlywed couple the “It” couple because of how in-demand they are as far as wedding proposals go.

Movies:

When we think about it, most of us can’t help but compare Scottie and Robert’s acting styles and the characters they play to their real-life personalities. In many ways, the pairing makes complete sense. As previously mentioned, the two actors share a birthday and have been friends since high school. They also have remarkably similar personalities – both are thoughtful, methodical and level-headed. It’s easy to see how these two could have worked effectively as a team on-set and off-set. Their first collaboration, Twilight, went on to become one of the biggest movies of all time and helped launch both of their careers. After Twilight, Robert went on to play the lead in films such as the critically-acclaimed Ex-Machina and later, The Beach Bum. Scottie followed up Twilight with a string of critically-acclaimed films, including The Martian and now, Honeycomb. Their work together has not only made them famous, but established them as prominent public figures. Their personal lives, however, are kept private.

Physical Appearance:

Scottie and Robert are both classified as “baby bonobos” – a combination of “baby” and “bonobos” – because of their small stature. When compared to other actors their age, Scottie and Robert look young. Even their features can’t help but betray their young age – Scottie has a heart-shaped face, and Robert is frequently mistaken for a teenager. If this description seems accurate, it’s probably because the two have kept their appearance secret. Even after all these years, they both still choose to wear disguises from time to time. The question, however, is whether these disguises are just for show or if there is more to it than that. It is known, for example, that Robert likes to wear wigs and sunglasses, which many claim is a signal to the public that he is, in fact, playing a part.
