There are just a few moments in a celebrity’s life that truly matter, the ones that define their presence in the public eye.
For singer-songwriter Zoe Kravitz, the big news was that her beloved musician dad, singer-songwriter/record producer Lenny Kravitz, had two grandchildren, a boy and a girl.
It was revealed that the two had met and been corresponding through social media for some time before the boy, Jagger, was photographed wearing a necklace that his grandma had designed, featuring a diamond, a ruby and a sapphire.
This sparked rumors that the handsome British actor, Robert Pattinson, might be stepping up to the plate to be Lenny Kravitz’ granddad-in-law. The speculation even led to a headline that read: “Is Robert Pattinson Set To Marry Zoe Kravitz?”
Well, after an initial public statement refuting the rumor, Robert did indeed confirm that he had proposed to Zoe on Christmas Day as the rest of the world was celebrating the holiday with their loved ones.
In a candid interview with GQ, the actor teased fans by revealing some pretty interesting tidbits about their romance.
The Proposal
“It was lovely,” Robert said. “I don’t think I’ve ever felt happier or more peaceful in my life. She made me feel like a king.”
“It’s funny, because when we first met, we didn’t even speak. We had just seen each other at a party, and I don’t even know why I asked her out. I’d never really dated anyone with brown hair before, and I thought she was the most beautiful woman at the party. It was an easy decision when I saw her photo on my phone a few days later.”
“I’d always dreamed of proposing to someone I loved. When I got the chance, I couldn’t believe it. It was everything I’d ever wanted.”
The Wedding Plans
“My wife and I were driving home from Walgreen’s after getting our Christmas presents,” Robert continued. “We were talking about the wedding and how to make it something special. I remember saying, ‘You know what? Let’s just do it at home. We can’t afford to lose any more time.’ So that’s what we did.”
The couple made their wedding an intimate affair, inviting just a few friends and family members, and had a three-hour brunch, complete with bride and groom portraits taken by a professional photographer.
“We wanted to do something different,” Robert said. “The standard bridal party pictures after the ceremony aren’t something I think anyone will want to see.”
New Additions To The Family
Another exciting development for Lenny Kravitz has been the birth of his first grandchild, a son named Kaden. The new mom is model/actress Amada Moraes, and the new dad is NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Brown, who in real life is actually half-brother to Lenny Kravitz, shared an adorable photo of himself cradling the newborn in his arms, with the proud grandfather cooing over the baby’s head.
Brown also made headlines when he proposed to Moraes in an elaborate, vintage-style ceremony in December 2018, complete with an engagement ring straight out of Mario Bros. and a wedding dress designed by the Duchess of Cambridge.
While the world was distracted by the celebrity wedding hoopla, another romantic development that went public was the relationship between Robert Pattinson and Kravitz. The two were spotted holding hands outside a Hollywood restaurant in January 2019, fueling speculation that they were in fact a couple.
All Quiet On The Western Front
Although the media frenzy over the two gorgeous babes was dominating headlines, something more important was happening that people were choosing to ignore: the Covid-19 pandemic.
The world was on the brink of a historic shift in how we live, work and play. Going to bars and clubs was no longer an option. Travel was limited, and social distancing seemed like a foreign concept. Theaters, restaurants, and concerts had to adapt to fit safer standards of social distancing, limiting the number of attendees and performing artists.
In the middle of all this, Robert Pattinson, along with his Twilight co-stars and their spouses, planted flowers into the earth to mark the spot where their characters’ final scenes were shot. It was a small but touching gesture that people remembered and were inspired by during this difficult time.
In the words of Pattinson, “It’s funny, isn’t it? All these clichés that people used to say about Hollywood couples no longer apply. People are still hungry for romance, and relationships seem more genuine.”
It’s been a banner year for celebrity weddings, and it’s only January. Whether you were rooting for Chris Pine and Emily Blunt, hoping they’d work out their issues or just want to see the couple enjoy their newlywed bliss, these weddings were bound to make you smile.
