We know that Robert Pattinson and Nikki Reed were photographed together at the 2019 Golden Globes, but was there more to it than just a chance meeting at a formal affair?
The Hollywood star, 31, showed up at the 2019 Golden Globes dressed to kill in a stunning white dress and matching white heels. As if that weren’t enough to make us question his taste in women, the Twilight actor’s entire look was completed with a matching white boxy jacket.
And just like that, we were sold. Even though he is married to FKA Twigs, his 24-year-old wife, it seems that the bachelor wasn’t willing to keep his options open. Especially since his on/off romance with Reed has been discussed heavily in the media.

The Brief Encounter
While Robert was busy promoting his new movie, The Guardian published an in-depth piece about the couple’s rocky road to romance. Written by Michael Clements, the journalist who penned Pattinson’s tell-all book, PATTINSON, the article shed new light on their tumultuous relationship. (Apparently, they first met when Reed’s band was playing a concert in London.)
The Guardian described their first encounter as “a chance meeting at a cinema premiere that devolved into a kiss, ending in an outraged glare from Reed.” And though they’ve been rumored to be an item since their teens, it wasn’t until 2016 that the pair finally got together, after years of waiting.
But it wasn’t always easy for Robert and Nikki. As the article states, they “first dated for a year before confronting the fact that they were so in love they feared they’d never satisfy each other’s needs.” Even after they got married, their relationship was still filled with conflict. At one point, Reed even considered walking down the aisle alone.
The Blowing Off Of Coachella
Last August, when the 31-year-old actor returned to the festival that he helped create in its 12th year, Coachella, he brought along his bride, FKA Twigs, as his date. Their outfits were an ode to the fashion house, Burberry.
The festival was the perfect place for the newlywed couple to let their hair down. As Vanity Fair’s Tina Nguyen reported, the singer and actor “let loose at Coachella 2019 in the most delightfully bizarre outfits. And it was all thanks to a team of incredible stylists who worked with them (and on them!) throughout the year to make each look and each moment special.”
The bride wore a stunning dress made by the designer, while the groom donned a custom-made Burberry scarf, beanie, and sunglasses. Together, they were a sight for sore eyes.
New York City And Paris As Metropolises
The newlyweds’ NYC-based wedding celebration was filled with colorful costumes and dancing. (You can read more about it here.)
Though Paris is home to the Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum, New York City has always been the couple’s preferred vacation destination. (In fact, they named their debut album, UNION, which is French for “New York.”) In 2019, they returned to the city they fell in love with, with its breathtaking views, Broadway shows, and vibrant culture. (The couple walked down the aisle at Brooklyn’s Saint John’s Church.)
To celebrate their anniversary, the couple jetted off to Rome for an early morning visit to The St. John the Baptist Church, one of the most photographed buildings in the city. (The photo below, taken by the famous Annie Leibovitz, shows the groom looking dashing in a gray suit and gold tie.)
Since their first date, Robert and Nikki have been open about their love for big cities and international travel. And apparently, the adventurer in him really did want to visit every continent in the world. As the article in The Guardian states, he “wants to see the world and grow his family while also helping humanity as much as he can,” which seems like a pretty good idea. Plus, maybe he’s trying to atone for all the bad things he’s done in the past. (He was expelled from Brown University for underage drinking and vandalism.)
Another Wedding?
Will they tie the knot again? It seems unlikely that they’ll remain discreet given their previous marital tribulations. After their second wedding, which their friends and family referred to as “the debacle,” the couple called off their engagement, deciding to focus on their parenting and love for one another. (They have a daughter, Princess, born in 2018.)
Unfortunately, the media frenzy surrounding the couple’s romance wasn’t able to stay quiet for long. In March, Robert was linked to several women, including British actress Emma Welch. (He has since denied these rumors.) Even after the split, however, the couple continues to be very private. According to People, they “have always maintained a strong connection with their daughter – and she is the light of their lives.” As they grow their family, they want to ensure that they are doing what is best for Princess.
And though they’ve been in a committed relationship with FKA Twigs since 2016, the pair are no doubt still attracted to each other. Since their breakup, the singer has pursued a more public lifestyle, and vice versa. (She recently had a baby boy with her partner, Jared Leto.) While it may be difficult to maintain a healthy romance after so much public turmoil, it’s clear that the love these days is real. After all, what’s more important in life than your loved one?
