You may have heard about the latest casting rumors involving Robert Pattinson as a potential new Batman. A lot of people seem to think that this casting is sort of odd, but is it really that strange of a choice?
Let’s examine some of the casting rumors and logic behind them.
Why Cast Robert Pattinson As Batman?
The first question that comes to mind is, why would you cast Robert Pattinson as Batman?
Well, for starters, the actor has already proven himself to be pretty great at acting. The guy is a total natural, and I mean that in the best possible way. He’s an amazing talent who will undoubtedly bring the Batman character to life in a spectacular fashion.
Yes, I’m aware that he doesn’t exactly fit the traditional role of the superhero. For one, he’s actually shorter than usual. We’re not talking about a dwarf here, although he does have a pretty tall actor in his family.
But despite any physical differences, Robert Pattinson is a perfect fit for the Batman role. In my opinion, it’s a matter of chemistry. The actor has a certain je ne sais quoi that makes him a perfect fit for any role, be it a superhero or not.
Robert Pattinson’s Previous Involvement With Comics
If you’ve ever seen any of Robert Pattinson’s films, then you’ll undoubtedly know that he’s been acting for a long time. So it shouldn’t really come as a big surprise that he’d be interested in playing a superhero. After all, he’s already expressed a huge interest in acting in comic books, and now that he’s become an established Hollywood star, he has the money and the connections to make it happen.
Besides, even though he’s a grown man, Peter Pan is still one of Robert Pattinson’s biggest influences. It seems like he could fit right into the world of superheroes, since he’s always looking for new adventures.
The Perfectionist In Action
If there is one thing that Robert Pattinson is, it’s a perfectionist. He takes his work seriously and doesn’t do anything halfway. There are countless stories of the actor walking away from role after role, until eventually he finds the right fit.
I mean, just look at Breaking Dawn, which I’m sure you all remember. He didn’t want to play a vampire for too long, so he turned down the part in the first place. When they told him that Twilight was a huge hit and that they needed another part of the movie, he agreed to do it, but only if they could find a way to make it a different character. He ended up playing Renesmee’s (Mia Wasikowska’s) older brother, Charlie. And let’s not forget about the hunky young man who becomes a bear in Paddington, which was a role that he turned down as well. He never did anything without thinking it through and doing it his way.
A Bit Of A Dark Knight
Now, I know what some of you are thinking. You’re thinking, “Gosh, why would you cast Robert Pattinson as a superhero? Doesn’t he have enough problems in his life? Isn’t he a bit too much of a dark character already?”
Well, yes, as a matter of fact, he does have a lot of problems in his life. So much so that he’s had to cancel a lot of his recent public appearances because he was too busy working. He’s also attached to a lot of high-profile relationships, which some people consider to be tempestuous. And he’s known for turning down role after role because he doesn’t feel that he fits the mold of what an actor in a particular role should be like.
But is he really too much of a dark character?
If you’ve never really thought about it, then you might say yes. But if you take a closer look, you’ll see that he doesn’t really fit the mold of what a stereotypical ‘dark character’ is like, either. He’s a pretty complex individual who has a dark side, but also a lot of good qualities.
He’s a perfectionist, he’s constantly working to improve himself, and he has an insatiable curiosity about the world. Those are all pretty ‘dark’ characteristics. But, at the same time, he’s also a really nice guy who just wants to be helpful and friendly. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone, he just wants to be happy.
So, in a nutshell, what is Robert Pattinson? He’s a bit of a Chameleon, I guess. A bit of a Peter Pan, a bit of a Dark Knight. He can play whatever you want him to play, and he’ll give it his all and do it better than anyone else.
