The ‘Twilight’ actor looked every bit the prince and, arguably, the world’s most romantic lead in his stunning purple ensemble. With his sleek black hair and brooding good looks, he certainly did not fail to steal the show as he danced with his rumored new love, FKA Twigs.
While many stars’ style change as they grow older, Robert Pattinson has gone the other way. Younger and more handsome than ever, the 32-year-old actor showed off his enviable style in a purple ensemble for the prestigious GQ Men of the Year Awards in London on Sunday.
Pattinson is arguably one of the most style-conscious stars out there. Not satisfied with one look, he usually opts for multiple outfits, depending on the occasion. For example, he wore a black suit with a white shirt and tie for the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in March last year and then decided to add a pop of color in the form of a Hawaiian shirt for the premiere of ‘Remember Me’.
With his penchant for dressing well, it is no surprise that his fashion portfolio boasts some of the most stylish outfits in Hollywood. Over the years, his style has evolved from a bit geeky to something more mature and refined. In an interview with the Telegraph in 2016, Pattinson revealed that his style inspiration comes from a place much more traditional: his father. “I dress like my dad used to when he was younger. He always dressed really well and went smartly dressed. I feel like I’ve kind of integrated that into my style a little bit,” he said.
While we can’t say we’re not jealous of that—Paul Newman and Robert Redford were two of the most stylish Hollywood stars of their generation—we’d like to point out that there’s more to being stylish than dressing well. To us, good style involves a lot more than just wearing the right clothes. It also means being confident and aware of what you’re doing, which, let’s face it, Pattinson is not. As a result, we were a little let down by his GQ cover that mostly focuses on his new look rather than his style.
A Bit Of A Slogan
On the subject of his new look, Pattinson said during an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ in December that he’s “really happy with what [he] achieved.” Of course, we couldn’t resist asking if he had a cheeky slogan to promote his new look. For some reason, he made us promise not to use his real name in any of our headlines, so here goes:
“I think [the GQ] theme this year is luxury and self-expression, so I don’t want to be a part of that… I mean, it’s fashionable to be healthy and wealthy, so I don’t want to be that guy. I want to be the other guy.”
This year’s GQ Men of the Year issue is very much representative of the style evolution we’re seeing in Hollywood. From geek chic to elegance, these men redefine cool.
