Whether you’re a fan of The Batman or The Joker, you have to admit that Robert Pattinson is a pretty cool guy. The Twilight actor has taken on two of the most iconic characters of all time, and not one, but two of the most profitable franchises of all time. Not only that, but he’s also managed to do it while maintaining his privacy. Pretty impressive for an actor who decided to do something different than what Hollywood usually has in store for its leading men. Even more impressive is the fact that even people who’ve never read a single Twilight novel consider Pattinson to be the real-life Batman. Here’s a look at the best of what Robert Pattinson has accomplished so far.
Private Life
While it’s certainly true that Hollywood needs its leading men to be both handsome and rich, it doesn’t mean that the private life of those famous movie stars has to be just like ours. Thanks to social media, we now have access to the private lives of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Even before social media, people were often too afraid to ask those questions that we ask every day. Now, it’s the common conversation of friends, family, and coworkers. For example, it wouldn’t seem strange to ask a fan of Batman if the actor has any interesting stories about his time as the Dark Knight. Or, for those who’ve never heard of The Joker and are simply rooting for Batman, how does Pattinson interact with the public? Does he keep any regular routines? Does he work out regularly? These are the sorts of questions that people used to ask Henry Vogel, the original Batman, back in the 1930s. Vogel decided to answer these questions with a simple yes or no. That’s it. He didn’t want to reveal too much about his private life then, and he doesn’t want to reveal too much now, either. He wants to keep his personal life personal. That was Henry Vogel’s approach back in the day, and that’s still how he approaches it today. The more we learn about Batman’s private life, the more we admire him.
Handsome And Rich
When we think about the modern Batman, the first thing that usually comes to mind is not his personality or how he interacts with the public. It’s usually about his appearance or his money. Batman is considered one of the most handsome characters in fiction, and it’s easy to see why. The actor, Scott Adler, put it best when he said, “I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he is extremely handsome, and I think that helps.” The fact that Batman is also rich is, of course, a bonus. Hollywood’s newest leading man certainly doesn’t lack for female attention, especially in light of his incredible look and charm. However, he’s determined to stay away from the limelight as much as possible. There’s a reason why he doesn’t often appear as the focal point of a Hollywood film. It’s not that he doesn’t want to be loved, but rather that he wants to keep his personal life as private as possible. The fact that these two elements, appearance and money, are so intertwined in Batman’s persona proves that he’s not your average Hollywood leading man.
Batman In Popular Culture
Batman has been around since the early 1930s, so it’s not like he’s a brand new character. But, what is new is how much culture has embraced him. It’s almost as if he has no boundaries, and that’s exactly how Hollywood likes it. Whether it’s movies, TV shows, or even music, it seems like there’s always some sort of Batman connection. But, is it just a coincidence, or does he actually share a connection with the culture that embraces him? It’s hard to say, but it’s clear that there’s a reason why Batman has been so popular for so long.
On the most basic level, Batman has always been a reflection of society. The Dark Knight gets its name from the darkness that plagued early 20th century Europe, particularly Germany. The country was plagued by poverty, inequality, and injustice. These themes are prevalent in Joker, as well, but Germany’s dark history certainly influenced the character. After World War II, many of Germany’s most famous citizens saw the need to try and make the country a better place. They sought to help by providing security and order, ultimately leading to the formation of the Batman organization.
The popularity of Batman transcends all borders, social classes, and genders. It doesn’t matter if you’re a girl or a boy, or if you’re a fan or a detractor. Batman has always been a fascinating character, and it seems like that fascination will never end.
