It’s been a long time coming, but at last we have an official reveal date for the upcoming Batman & Robin film. The first teaser trailer was released today, and it contains some rather tantalizing clues as to what to expect from the movie. So let’s dive into what we know about the movie so far.
Teaser Trailer
If you haven’t seen the teaser trailer yet then you really should. It’s been out for some time now, but it’s only in the past few days that people have started actually finding out what the trailer is about. Basically, it’s a teaser trailer, and it reveals very little content. However, it does contain some intriguing clues as to what is to come in the next full-length trailer.
The most obvious and possibly most significant piece of information contained in the teaser trailer is the title. According to several sources, the movie will be called Batman & Robin and it will be about the adventures of two heroes, Batman and Robin. This confirms a previous rumor that the film would actually be about two Batman’s and it wasn’t just a coincidence that the two characters were posed next to each other in the teaser artwork.
The artwork for the teaser was also significant. It revealed a rather stylized Robin sitting in a stylized bat pod, surrounded by several other Batman silhouettes. From this we can tell that the other Batman’s are either disguised as Robin or have a very similar design. This suggests that we’ll see multiple versions of Robin in the movie, and that the other Batman’s aren’t exactly happy about being compared to Batman’s sidekick. This, in turn, could lead to some interesting story lines in the movie.
Varying Themes
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a Batman & Robin movie. Back in 2012, the idea of a standalone Batman movie was first introduced to the public. The following year, concept art for a Robin movie was first showcased at NYCC. Since then the idea of a Robin movie has been tossed around occasionally, but it’s never truly become a reality. With the teaser now finally unveiled, we have our first real look at what a Robin movie would entail.
The rumors surrounding a Robin movie have been varied. Some claim that it would center around Dick Grayson and his transition into being a costumed hero. However, one of the best rumors suggests that it would center around Batman’s early years and the events that led him to don the cape and cowl. The rumor suggests that Batman & Robin will be a character study about how Bruce Wayne developed into becoming the iconic vigilante we know and love.
Multi-Colorful
For years, the only proper way to represent Robin wasn’t through an animated series or a comic book. It was through old-school television, where he would usually show up as a bumbling sidekick to Batman. The fact that this is no longer a sufficient representation of Robin is, frankly, ridiculous. With the character finally gaining popularity, it’s high time for him to stand on his own two feet as a fully-fledged superhero.
The teaser shows Robin in a few different outfits. First, there’s the classic red and yellow. Next, we see him in what looks like a utility belt that can double as a messenger bag. Last but not least, Robin appears in a bright green outfit that’s similar to the one he wore in the animated series. This last look is, ironically, my personal favorite because it’s the most traditional of the three. It would be great to see Robin in something that isn’t yellow or red for a change.
Huge Anticipation
The anticipation for this movie is unlike any other. Ever since the very first teaser was released, fans have been eagerly speculating as to what the finished product will look like. It’s quite the opposite from most blockbusters, where hype is usually reserved for the final product. There hasn’t been this much excitement surrounding a Batman film since The Dark Knight.
Based on the very first teaser and the various rumors that have sprung up around it, it’s fair to say that most people are expecting something more than they’ve ever seen from the character before. The teaser shows a darker, grittier side to Batman and Robin, which is exactly what fans want to see.
The Dark Knight was a great movie, but it was also a very serious and somber adaptation of the Batman mythos. People expected that from Christopher Nolan, but they didn’t expect to see this much humor from the franchise. It turns out that Batman is a much more humorous character than we were given to believe. If this trailer is any indication, the same will be true for Robin. His goofiness will be unveiled much sooner than expected.
Who Will Be The Biggest Threat?
This is one of the most intriguing and intriguing questions surrounding this movie. Based on the various teasers and rumors that have surfaced, it’s clear that many different factions are aiming to bring the Robin character to the big screen. Some want to see him as a gritty noir detective, while others see him as a potential franchise starter.
It’s great to see so many different ideas being thrown around in terms of what could happen with Robin. Even though this scenario is exciting, it’s also a little bit nerve-wracking. Whatever happens, we can’t have another “Green Vs. Red” situation on our hands. Hopefully, this will all be wrapped up by the time the movie comes out.
