It’s been four months since we last heard from Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but the signs are starting to appear that the couple may be reuniting soon. At the end of October, the Twilight co-stars were photographed on a dinner date in New York City, with insiders confirming to Hollywood News that the couple are indeed working on repairing their relationship.
Since their split in June, both actors have maintained a relatively low profile. Stewart has been focused on healing from the devastation of losing her husband and newborn daughter in a tragic accident, while Pattinson has spent much of his time with his four children, touring the world with them as their nanny. However, in the last few weeks, both have appeared in public together multiple times, hinting at a possible reconciliation. Most recently, on December 17, Stewart attended the 20th Annual Icon Awards in Los Angeles with Pattinson.
Although no one can predict when or if the two will reconcile, they’ve certainly made it clear that they want to be together again. In July, Stewart opened up about her future with the actor in an interview with ET Canada, saying, “I’d like to be with him for the rest of my life.” The following month, Pattinson took to Instagram to thank fans for their well-wishes, writing, “Much love to you all. Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot. Much love.”
They’re Working On Rebranding
Since their breakup, Stewart and Pattinson have both gone through the process of rebranding themselves. The 41-year-old actress ditched her “Kardashian” surname, while the 35-year-old actor changed his last name to Pattinson. The name change is significant, as it’s often associated with Hollywood’s famous “Kardashian clan.” However, both decided to make the change to distance themselves from their celebrity families. As Stewart explained to ET Canada in July, “I want to focus on being a mom and being a wife. And I think the best way to do that is by not having my name attached to it.”
Pattinson also cited family as a reason for wanting to change his name, explaining to Entertainment Tonight, “I think it’s a cool name, and I’d like to keep it, but in a way that nobody knows who I am. It’s very private.”
With their families and friends no longer prying into their relationship, Pattinson and Stewart have both wanted to focus on their professional endeavors. The actor has appeared in three films since their split, while Stewart has filmed a handful of commercials and has provided her voice for a video game. In addition to their film careers, the former couple are both attached to various projects at Fox – Stewart is attached to the untitled sixth installment of the Fantastic Beasts series, while Pattinson is set to appear in the comedy Great American Pastry Conquest.
With his busy schedule taking up much of his time, it may be a while before we see much of Pattinson, but that hasn’t stopped Stewart from publicly showing her support for her ex. At the Icon Awards in late December, Stewart dedicated a song to her husband, thanking him for “loving me so much.”
Their Relationship Is Much Better
Since their split, the couple have stayed relatively far apart, but signs are emerging that their relationship is in a much better place than it was at the end of June. According to a source close to the couple, their on-and-off-again relationship is “better than it’s ever been.”
The insider explained to Hollywood News, “Kristen recently moved out of her home and into a place she feels more comfortable being single. She is focused on her career and looking for a serious relationship. She wants to be able to trust and commit to another person.”
The source went on to say that Stewart intends to move out of her parent’s home in the near future. At the end of October, it was reported that Stewart was seeking a co-owner’s share in a property she purchased in Saint-Tropez, France, with her former production company, 42nd Street Films.
Stewart has been busy establishing her career as an artist since her split from Pattinson, landing a number of supporting roles in films and television shows. Most recently, the actress starred in the Amazon Prime Video series, The Family, which premiered in October. In the dystopian drama, Stewart plays a single mother who must protect her young son from a community of displaced persons who have been freed from a mental institution. While the series focuses on the family’s struggle to survive, Stewart’s character also has a love interest, who attempts to protect her from harm.
Stewart’s rep said at the time of the series premiere that she is “excited to have this new opportunity to explore different facets of motherhood and to work with some wonderful creatives.” In the past year, Stewart has also appeared in the Netflix series, Disjointed, where she played a mother accused of murdering her family, in the comedy series, Camping, and in the thriller, Night School.
Pattinson has largely remained off-camera since their split, focusing on being a father to his four children. He recently wrapped production on a film titled What Makes You Beautiful, which will be released in late 2021.
Pattinson is also attached to the fantasy comedy series, Snow White and the Huntsman, which will be released next year. The four-time Academy Award winner previously directed and starred in the 2014 drama, Magic Mike XXL.
Their Fans Are Still Behind Them
Although it’s been four months since the demise of “Mr. and Mrs. Hollywood,” their fans are still deeply affected by their separation. The couple’s most devoted followers have stayed behind, showing their support for the exes on social media. As of early 2021, there were still over a million tweets per day about the couple.
In the months and days following the announcement of their breakup, both actors’ accounts were inundated with supportive messages from their fans, who called the couple their “bests pals” and “besties.”
The tweet below, posted in July 2020, is a prime example of the type of message fans sent the former couple. It read, “I miss you so much. I hope you two make it through whatever you’re going through. You were the best part of my week. I always looked forward to seeing what was going to come up in your tweets next. You always gave me a smile or made me laugh. Even when nothing was going on, you were helping me get through it. You made my month. You made my year. You’ll never know how much you meant to me. I love you both so much.”
They Want To Be Together
Stewart and Pattinson both acknowledged their mutual desire to be together in an interview with Vanity Fair in July. When asked if they wanted to try for another baby, the 41-year-old actress replied, “I think we want to try for another baby. It would be lovely to have another little person in the house. That’s one of the things that’s missing now that William is gone.”
Pattinson added, “I think we’d both like to do it. It’s just a matter of us managing our work schedules and finding the time. But yeah, I think we both really want to have another child. It would be great to have another little person running around the house.”
The couple have been spending a lot of time together in the last few months, with multiple sightings of them seen at various events and public appearances. The most recent of these was on December 17, where they were both photographed together in New York City. Another sign of their reconciliation was seen on December 11, when Stewart posted a photo of herself, Pattinson, and their four children on her Instagram Story. In the photo, the foursome are dressed in matching outfits, with the caption, “Family time.”
They Want To Be Careful
While it’s great to see Stewart and Pattinson back together again, there’s also a reason why the couple have decided to be careful about their future. The 35-year-old actor spent much of 2019 and 2020 in and out of the hospital, due to complications from his latest bout of dysentery. However, in 2021, he has returned to working and living with his children. As he told Deadline in September, “After the last year and a half of being in and out of the hospital, it’s wonderful to be living with my family and working.”
