If you’re a fan of the works of Robert Pattinson, then this latest movie of his is a must-see! In the film, entitled Believe, Pattinson plays a billionaire who adopts a young boy, Tommy, played by an adorable French bulldog, Marley. As his assistant, I’ll be honest – it’s no secret that I have a soft spot for animals, so this part was especially sweet for me!
Pattinson is one of the most recognizable faces in the world, having played the most iconic vampire, Edward Cullen, in the Twilight series. The series has sold over 450 million books worldwide and the movies were among the highest-grossing live-action films of all time, raking in $585 million at the box office. Since then, he’s appeared in multiple movies and continued to star in some of the biggest titles, most recently in Gucci’s #MyItalianStyle campaign and Sony’s upcoming film Harold. If you’ve never heard of Edward Cullen, then let me introduce you – he’s widely considered to be one of the most romantic characters of all time and his story has become so popular because of the universality of it all: love, obsession, tragedy, and triumph.
Follow The Actor
One of the best things about Believe is that it gives you a glimpse into the personal life of an A-list actor. Even if you’ve never been particularly interested in celebrity gossip, you’ll be intrigued by the ups and downs of Robert Pattinson’s personal life. The British actor has been married to his wife, singer and model Kate Bosworth, for seven years and they have two children together, Lila and Charlie. They also have two dogs, a French bulldog and a pug, named Marley and Roxy, respectively.
Pattinson is incredibly active off-screen, too, acting, writing, and producing projects. For fans who appreciate his work, they can follow him on Twitter, where he tweets about film, TV, and upcoming projects. He also regularly updates his fans about the latest news and events from Kate’s side of the family – the actress Kate Bosworth and her parents, Tim and Jackie. If you want to stay in touch with Robert Pattinson, then follow him on Twitter and be sure to check his website for all the latest news, projects, and photos.
Watch The Trailer
If you haven’t heard of Believe, then you may want to check it out. The film’s trailer features an all-star cast, including Demi Moore, Jacki Weaver, Robert Duvall, John Malkovich, and Angela Lansbury. The movie is directed by Michael Radford and is set for release on December 21, 2019.
While you’re at it, you may also want to watch Marley, the 2016 Oscar-nominated movie starring French bulldog Marley and directed by James Marsden. The film is about the unlikely friendship between a bulldog and a billionaire. When Marley’s owner, played by Robert Pattinson, learns that he has cancer and is expected to die, he sets out to make his dog’s life as happy as possible. He buys all the necessary items for Marley to live comfortably – including a helicopter – and even arranges a football match with some of the world’s best footballers! Marley is co-produced by China’s Hengxi Cinema and was one of the most popular movies in China in 2016, becoming the country’s all-time highest-grossing film. The movie was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Makeup.
Watch On Netflix
If you haven’t heard of Marley, then you may want to check out some of its references. The names of its characters – Michael J. Pellicano, played by John Malkovich, and Robert Duvall – are references to real-life lawyers turned filmmakers. The movie is a hilarious look at the legal process and the lengths that Pellicano will go to in order to win a lawsuit. To this day, the film is still considered one of the greatest sports comedies ever made.
Another notable film that Pattinson is often compared to is Jack Black’s 1990 cult classic, School of Rock. This is not a bad comparison at all, as Black’s character, Roger, also adopts a young boy, whom he names Arnold, after his favorite composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Much like with Tommy, the younger Arnold is a joy to watch and Black’s portrayal of Roger is very endearing.
If you want to see how close both Jack Black and Robert Pattinson are, look no further than their shared birthday, August 12. Black also shared his excitement about the release of Believe and said that he and Pattinson are “best friends” on Twitter. The two have been friends since they were 10 years old and even shared a kiss on camera in the 2017 film, Goodbye Christopher Robin. Their close relationship is apparent in Believe, where they spend a good deal of time together, laughing, playing, and even dancing. While we’re on the topic of music, it’s worth noting that one of the film’s most beautiful scenes is an entire sequence set to Ennio Morricone’s famous theme from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. It’s one of the greatest scores of all time and represents the great musical skill of Morricone.
Follow The Director
Since he made his reputation with the high-school comedy School of Rock, director James Marsden has directed numerous hit films, with a new movie each year since. Most recently, Marsden directed the hit film Bumblebee, based on the 1960s cartoon character, as well as the highly anticipated sequel, Bumblebee II, which is set to be released in April 2021.
If Marsden’s name sounds familiar, it’s probably because he’s directed some of the biggest names in the industry. He’s directed Michael J. Fox in The Joy of Tech and Pete’s Dragon; Sean Astin in The Warming Glow, The Mummy, and The NeverEnding Story; Lea Michele in The Other Side Of Me and The Light Between Oceans; and Selena Gomez in Spring Breakers and How to Build a Man.
Marsden also directed the upcoming romantic comedy Woman in a Cage, starring Rose Byrne and Thomas McDonell. It is due for release on December 12, 2021.
Don’t Forget The Writer
The screenwriter of Bumblebee, Kieran Mulroney, also wrote the script for Believe, based on a story by John Gatins. You may know Mulroney from his work on the television show, Mindy, which he co-created and co-wrote. He’s also written the screenplays for Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World, Warner Bros.’ The Great Gatsby, and Focus Features’ The Irishman, starring Robert De Niro. Most recently, Mulroney reunited with Scott on the set of the upcoming Alien movie, Dark Carnival, set for release in February 2021.
