We haven’t heard much about The Batman movie since its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Hollywood Reporter’s chief film critic, Laura F. Smith, attended the premiere and filed this early review: “Though her portrayal of Carrie in the new adaptation of Stephen King’s IT is proving to be immensely popular, as is her film adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice, fans of the Oscar-winning actress may still be wondering what role she’ll play in the upcoming Batman movie.
A Reference Back to The Dark Knight Trilogy
The reference to the Dark Knight Trilogy in the title of the Batman movie is a subtle yet effective way of reminding viewers that this is actually a prequel. The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Dark Knight Legacy are all set several years before the events of the 2016 movie that bears his name. However, fans who have seen the comics or who have followed the events of the Batman comics may recognize a few characters and plot points in the new movie.
A Reference Back to King’s IT
When we last heard from the new Batman movie, Warner Bros. had just announced that it had acquired the film rights to Stephen King’s IT. The story follows the adventures of the eponymous villain as he tries to rob banks and blow up movie theaters in order to create chaos and fear. Several months later, the studio has yet to reveal the identity of the actor who’ll portray the demonic Mr. Screminger, but we do know that Jennifer Lawrence will co-star as the heroic, adult Beverly Garland. The role was originally meant to be played by an actress in her 40s, but the search for the perfect lead continues.
Could She Play The Riddler?
The Riddler is the most famous and versatile member of the Batman family. He first appeared in Batman #1, and throughout the years, he’s popped up in dozens of different situations and disguises. The character is known for his love of puzzles, and his devious tricks and shenanigans. Could Jennifer Lawrence play The Riddler? It’s certainly a role that would prove challenging and rewarding. The actress has proven that she’s got the charm, intelligence, and comedic timing to pull off an entirely new character in Baby Driver, and she is certainly not lacking in charisma. The part of the brilliant but deadly Riddler is probably one of the most interesting to explore in The Batman. It would be a great opportunity for her.
A Supporting Role In Justice League?
The newest Justice League movie will be released this year after filming wrapped last year. It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the project, but we know that Ben Affleck will star as Batman and Gal Gadot will play the iconic Wonder Woman. Could Jennifer Lawrence play a supporting role in Justice League? Her agent, Jill Karp, told The Hollywood Reporter that his client “would love to do something as a supporting role in the DC Universe movies, especially as a Wonder Woman or Harley Quinn character.” The actress most recently played the charming yet scheming Carrie in A United Kingdom, and she had a small role in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Aladdin. This is certainly an exciting prospect for comic book fans who’ve been waiting for a worthy solo outing for the Oscar-winning actress. She would be a perfect fit for a role in a Justice League movie. This is certainly one to watch out for in the future.
A Role In The Wolverine?
Wolverine is one of the most iconic characters in comic books and one of the most popular X-Men. Since the character first appeared in The Uncanny X-Men #119 in 1975, he’s racked up a near-infinite number of comics and movie appearances. However, the character was pretty much dormant for the past few years until 2017, when Fox came up with an idea to bring Wolverine back and reinvent the character for the modern era. The studio began production on the film last year, and it’s due for release in February 2021. Could Jennifer Lawrence play Wolverine? It’s been a long time since we saw the claws and ripped clothing, and it’s about time that we got to see the character in a new light. The actress starred for a time in Bridget Jones’s Diary, and the part of the powerful but tormented Wolverine is certainly within her grasp. This would be an excellent opportunity for the actress who’s truly one of the most in-demand actresses of this generation.
A Small Role In A New TV Show?
There hasn’t been a new season of Green Lantern yet, but we know that NBC is working on a new series focused on the heroes of the DC Comics universe. Ben Affleck will also be involved in this project, possibly playing a major role. Could Jennifer Lawrence play a supporting role in this upcoming series? It’s been a while since fans have seen the actress in a supporting role, and it would be great to see her continue to stretch and grow as an actress. She definitely seems to enjoy playing supporting roles, and she managed to charm audiences in her supporting role in the indie film One Shot.
A Lead Role In A New York Musical?
Another exciting prospect for fans of the talented actress would be to see her play a lead role in a Broadway musical. She can sing, and she’s perfectly competent at playing the piano. She’s managed to portray a wide range of characters in her career, from innocent to villainous. It’s time that we got to see the baddie in her solo musical. Perhaps she could play a character similar to Catwoman or the Joker. Her unique voice would fit perfectly in a Broadway musical and the opportunity to tour the world with her music would be an amazing experience for an actress who’s still relatively unknown. This is certainly one to keep an eye out for in the future.
An Original Animated Film?
Netflix is working on a new original cartoon series based on King George, the lead character from the comic books of the same name. The character first appeared in Jack Kirby’s Four Color Comics #27 in 1945. He was designed as a combination of Hitler and Uncle Sam, and the stories are told through Kirby’s artwork in an interesting mix of comics and graphic novels. The animated series will be written by Simon Brew and Ben Unwin of Over the Moon, and it’s produced by Bumblebee. The pair wrote an episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender focused on the character and drew on their experience of working with the iconic Bryan Cranston. They’ll bring their knowledge of and love for Kirby’s work to bear in this new series.
There are a lot of exciting prospects for Jennifer Lawrence in the future. The actress is proving to be difficult to keep down, and she’s managed to keep busy even while filming several major studio productions. With all these amazing roles in her future, it’s certainly time for Warner Bros. to pick up the phone and offer her a job.
