haha that was so weird and funny. His face, when he gets nervous, where he sucks his cheeks in…how hilarious, he did that like ten times.
haha!! hilarious
This poor man! God, he really is such an unbelievable trouper. When that one girl started her little “mosquito/bumble bee” bit, I would have freaked out. He handled it so well. Hysterical to watch him though. He must have thought that she was nuts!
Question: Why do japanese women constantly cover their mouths when talking and smiling? Drives me crazy!
Love your site and LOVE Twilight. Thought you’d be interested in this amazing new app i just stumbled upon, where you can see the latest Twilight movie trailers, biggest Twilight forums, and all of the latest Twilight gossip – soo cool…it’s at GetFugu.com and available for iphones, Blackberrys and Androids…check it out!!
@Emma – I find it annoying b/c it’s just too darn cutesy..! But if you noticed that it’s something that Japanese women do often, then it might be a cultural thing. They probably think that some of the things that American women do are weird!
That was sooo funny. I love the bit with the bug and Robert’s expression. I would have had the worst look on my face and been on the floor laughing. He held it together pretty well. The girls held up very well too, no crying or hysterics.
It must be trying having to put up with such silliness all the time. I give him a lot of credit.
Elle, I agree that it must be a cultural thing. It just drives me batty! It’s almost as if they are embarrassed to show their teeth when they laugh. If that’s the case, get braces already! I would love to see someone grab their hand and not let go when they try to cover up their mouths. They would probably freak!
The second best part was when the other girl sat so straight, serious, and formal and raised her hand to give the Voltura answer and she didn’t know it at all until they told her. Omg. Too funny. She was so serious. And Robert’s face the entire clip is just too funny. I was laughing out loud through the whole thing.
@Jennifer………he does suck in his cheeks when he’s nervous. And then he messes with his hair. Poor baby. I hope he has a strong stomach because mine would be in knots with all those weird stressful situations.
It’s so amazing how these people get a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit down and talk with a famous celebrity like Rob and then completely blow it by acting stupid or asking ridiculous questions. It is such a waste of time and energy for him. He must be so exhausted from all the filming and promo’s and then has to deal with this kind of stuff when he could be resting. Rob, I promise you that if you just give me 10 minutes of your time, I will not ask you any questions or do anything silly and immature. I will be too busy “keepin’ busy” with you to do any of that! Believe me, I’ll give you something to cause you to suck your cheeks in!
All I can say is.. What the Fudge.. ??? So weird and awkward.
@Emma and Ella
In Japan, a polite girl has to cover her mouth when she laughs.
It’s the done thing to avoid showing the teeth. You can even notice it in their cartoons. And deep long laughs are also ill-considerated.
Sorry for my bad english…
And sorry for miswriting you nickname Elle!
@Rae I know, and being 23…gosh, I can’t imagine how I’d handle it all. But he’s done so with an amazing amount of grace and style. Very impressive. I’m 29 and when I think back to being 23…I wouldn’t have done well, I don’t think. Ha, I still wouldn’t.
@Emma ” I will be too busy “keepin’ busy” with you to do any of that! Believe me, I’ll give you something to cause you to suck your cheeks in!” hahaha Naughty! ~;P
Rob is such a gentleman, even when he is interviewed with the craziest people. He is parinoid thought about someone doing something to him, but he takes it all in stride. I sure would like to bumblebee him. Umm……..
Lily, thank you for explaining. I had a feeling that there had to be a cultural reason behind it because just about all the women from that country do it. Why though? I don’t see how showing your teeth when you laugh is ill mannered. Men do it. If your teeth are in good condition, then show them off and laugh away. Nothing better in life than laughter and a good laugh is contagious. It’s a great way to spread happiness!
Can anyone make out what the second girl says at the end? I know that she says that she loves something and then Rob says that he loves it as well. But what? What does she love?
Also, totally non-related, but does anyone know what it is that Jacob whispers to Bella in the kitchen just before he almost kisses her (right before the phone rings). It’s in Quiluote and some people say that it means “I love you” and others say that it means “stay with me forever.” Anyone know for sure? It’s driving me nuts!
Thanks!
@Emma – In the kitchen Jacob says “Que Quowle” [k-we k-WOW-le] it means stay with me forever
Oh dear…. I truly feel for you Rob. I thought the French were pretty rude with their “interview with Twilight stars” in a full room of non-English speaking hosts and audience (!), but this really tops all the bizarre situations and interviews available on the internet about Rob. It’s good that at least Chris Weitz was there with Rob, so he would not think that he’s gone mad!
Honestly! Rob’s life taking a new turn – from frantic to bizarre……
I start to understand why the harakiri in that country……….
(I actually started biting my lips while watching this….it was truly painful to watch!!!!)
