A teaser of Robert Pattinson on the Remember Me DVD Extras

While Robert Pattinson spends his June promoting “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Summit Entertainment is working its cross-pollination magic by pushing “Remember Me” out on DVD.

Due June 22, the romantic drama starring Pattinson and “Lost” blond Emilie de Ravin touts a major bonus feature — a cast commentary track in which the heartthrob drops serious pearls about his filming experience.

Taking the lead for our favorite factoid: Pattinson’s dirty journaling. Playing the broody Tyler, the actor spent most of the film scrawling mysteriously in a leather-bound notebook. “On set I kept on going up to Rob and saying, ‘You’ve got to write in your journal, mate,’” producer Nick Osbourne said.

Said Pattinson: “I remember writing all these kind of pornographic poems, whenever there was a close-up on it. Horrible, horrible things in bold capital letters.”

We can only hope a man from Nantucket was involved.

Other amazing insights into Rob’s soul include …

His sex scene was scary: Pattinson was “terrified” during his boom-boom moment with De Ravin. More so, he was sympathetic to the director of photography, “who had to look deep into my … crack for a long time.”

His mother was appalled at the thought of a tattoo: Pattinson’s character has his brother’s name inked on his left pec as a memorial. When his mom saw it in the “Remember Me” trailer, she called him immediately. “I was like, ‘Really, do you think I tattooed ‘Michael’ on my chest?”

Fans take note — when in Los Angeles, he reads scripts in a fast-food restaurant parking lot: “I was in an In ‘N Out burger car park where I used to always read scripts. … I realized I liked the character Tyler in the first four pages.”

He’s not shy about his frustrations with the paparazzi: As the film’s New York shoot was plagued with photogs, almost every scene in the “Remember Me” commentary comes with some anecdote about the invasive shutterbugs. “They showed absolutely no respect for anything,” Pattinson remarks.

Big dramatic fight scenes bore him: Pattinson gets roughed up by costar Chris Cooper in the film, and loved every minute of it. “It’s probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a scene,” he says of being slammed against the hood of a car. “Normally the fights are so choreographed, it makes it boring.”

Rob does a mean Barney Gumble: Pattinson randomly bursts out in an impression of resident derelict Barney from “The Simpsons” on the commentary track. And it’s actually pretty spot on.

Remember Me Grossing $35 Worldwide

Robert Pattinson’s Remember Me is doing well overseas, but is dropping quickly in the United States.

The film grossed only $483K at 906 theaters in North America this Easter Weekend. Average per screen: a very low $533. After losing more than 1,000 venues, the romantic drama lost 75% of its revenues from a week ago; that’s a very sharp drop. Total to date: $18.2 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, overseas this weekend Remember Me grossed $4.7 million — nearly ten times what it did in the US/Canada — at 2,485 screens in 33 markets. The per-screen average isn’t great: only $1,891, but that’s a mix of both new and old countries.

But don’t fret, this was never meant to be a blockbuster film!! I’m sure everyone is pleased with these numbers :)

Robert Pattinson Weighs in on ‘Remember Me’ Ending

mt1oux-560x364.png*Spoiler Alert*

At the end of what appears to be a commonplace love story between two young New Yorkers — played by Pattinson and “Lost” star Emilie de Ravin — the audience learns that the events of the film are actually set almost one decade in the past. Pattinson’s character travels up to his father’s office, which we suddenly realize is housed in the World Trade Center and that he’s gone to meet his dad on the morning of September 11. He is killed as the planes collide with the towers.

It’s a controversial ending, no doubt, one fraught with issues of emotional and historical memory, the exigencies of narrative storytelling and the potential exploitation of 21st-century America’s defining trauma. These are all matters that weighed heavily on the minds of Pattinson and his co-stars, as well as director Allen Coulter. MTV News spoke with each of them to get their personal take on the ending of “Remember Me” and why each felt 9/11 was so integral to the story at large. Here is what they had to say.

Robert Pattinson: “When I first read the script, it seemed so much a part of it. As soon as I read it, I felt immediately connected to it. If it was edited down in any way, I don’t think it would be the same thing. I always feel there’s some kind of power to the script. I wanted to keep that in the movie.”
